Principal Learning Consultant   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • In-person location: Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Chicago, IL; Bethesda, MD; or New York City, NY (relocation assistance available)
  • $200,000 annually, paid weekly | Full health, dental, and vision benefits from day one

The most meaningful support you can offer a student who achieves 99% is to refuse to call it 100%. Not because you lack care — because you know they can reach it, and lowering standards is the true disservice. If that reasoning resonates, continue reading. If it feels too demanding, this position will not be a good fit.

Students at Alpha don't passively absorb lectures. They advance through adaptive applications at double the speed of conventional classrooms while simultaneously developing practical life competencies. Your responsibility is to ensure three commitments are fulfilled for every child in your cohort: they develop a love for learning, they progress at 2x speed, and they acquire skills that traditional curricula cannot provide. You will also develop the Guides who uphold these same commitments throughout your campus.

Your day begins with data review. Coachbot analytics reveal which students are progressing and which require additional support. By mid-morning you're facilitating a live life skills session with your K-8 cohort, adhering to Alpha's established framework. Post-lunch, you're observing a Guide's session, then providing them with three concrete actions to refine their execution. On certain days you're conducting motivation huddles, transforming leaderboard challenges and school currency into momentum that re-engages reluctant learners.

You'll witness reserved children present with confidence to adults. You'll see a student who previously "despised school" request to remain after hours. And you'll understand that the standard you maintained is precisely what enabled their success, because upholding the bar demonstrates your belief in their ability to reach it.

If you've exceeded benchmarks, transformed underperformers into high achievers, and you're prepared to do the same for children, submit your application now.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour live life skills and social-emotional learning (SEL) workshops with K-8 students covering topics such as public speaking and concentration, using Alpha's structured framework
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions designed to drive 100% of students toward their weekly app objectives using developmentally appropriate incentives including school currency and leaderboards
  • Developing Guides through observation, precise feedback, and practical training so they execute workshops with equivalent energy and accuracy
  • Analyzing Coachbot analytics and student profiles to determine which individuals require intervention, then providing direct support
  • Directly mentoring your assigned cohort of students, demonstrating the coaching and motivation techniques you expect every Guide to employ

What you will NOT be doing

  • Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum. Students progress through adaptive apps; your role is to elevate the people who support them.
  • Delivering traditional lectures. You're primarily an engager, secondarily a content expert; if you prefer standing at a whiteboard, this role isn't suitable.
  • Accepting "almost there" as sufficient. 100% mastery is the standard, and compromising it is not compassionate.
  • Spending your time in an office managing administrative tasks. The majority of your day involves direct interaction with students and Guides.
  • Waiting extended periods for performance insights. Results appear in real-time through Coachbot and adjustments occur immediately.

Key responsibilities

Execute Alpha's 3 Promises throughout your cohort and among the Guides under your leadership: every child loves school, progresses at 2x speed, and develops authentic life skills.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing educational programs, curricula, or training initiatives
  • Proven track record leading a team of 5 or more individuals, including responsibility for hiring and performance-based termination decisions

  • Background as an athletic coach, camp director, or youth program leader where you directly motivated children to achieve quantifiable goals
