Do you believe every student should achieve grade-level reading proficiency (or higher), yet find yourself frustrated by systems that squander their promise?

Alpha School demonstrates that literacy transformation doesn't depend on traditional 6-hour school schedules. Our 2-Hour Learning framework combines AI-adaptive technology with specialized instruction to accelerate reading development. Your role: architect and execute workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for early elementary learners.

This position centers on data-informed teaching, technology partnership, and constructing a reading system that scales to thousands of students—not administrative busywork.

Dorado advantages: Pristine coastline within minutes. Dynamic bilingual setting with convenient San Juan cultural access while preserving small-town living standards.

Drive learning. Pursue growth. Submit your application.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting adaptive reading workshops that strengthen phonics, comprehension, and fluency capabilities
  • Creating customized motivational sessions leveraging gamified literacy benchmarks
  • Examining student performance data to optimize instruction and identify actionable trends
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI literacy platforms using classroom evidence
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated content that enables early elementary learners to reach grade-level mastery

What you will NOT be doing

  • Standing at the front delivering lectures — students advance through self-directed AI applications, not traditional passive teaching
  • Implementing a pre-made curriculum or scripted lessons — you construct your own workshop designs independently
  • Covering academic subjects — your domain is reading workshops and motivational guidance, not math or science instruction
  • Managing behavior or supervising — each session carries specific learning targets and quantifiable results
  • Operating independently — you work alongside engineers who develop the AI platforms your students engage with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student under your instruction achieves at or above grade-level reading through AI-enhanced workshops that transform phonics learning into engaging, measurable, and enjoyable experiences

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for student and family communication)
  • 2+ years conducting small-group reading interventions with early elementary students
  • Competent at evaluating reading levels, organizing student groups, and creating differentiated instruction independent of pre-written curricula
  • Experienced with AI/adaptive learning platforms and attuned to student behavioral data
  • Legal work authorization in Puerto Rico without sponsorship requirements
  • Prepared to work on-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
