Do you think every child should achieve grade-level reading (or better), yet struggle to accept how ineffective systems squander their promise?

Alpha School demonstrates that literacy transformation doesn't demand 6-hour instructional days. We combine AI-adaptive platforms with specialized teaching through our 2-Hour Learning framework to accelerate reading development. Your role: create and execute workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for early elementary learners.

This position is not about administrative busywork or templated lesson plans. It's about evidence-based teaching, technology partnership, and constructing a reading curriculum that scales to thousands of students.

Why Dorado: Unspoiled coastline within minutes. A dynamic bilingual environment with convenient access to San Juan's arts and culture, all while enjoying small-town living standards.

Drive learning. Embrace growth. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops that develop phonics mastery, comprehension depth, and fluency precision
  • Creating personalized motivational experiences through gamified literacy achievement markers
  • Interpreting student performance metrics to sharpen instructional approaches and extract actionable intelligence
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI-driven literacy platforms using real classroom evidence
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated materials that help early elementary learners reach grade-level reading competence

What you will NOT be doing

  • Standing at the front delivering lectures — students progress through self-directed AI applications, not traditional teacher-led instruction
  • Adhering to off-the-shelf curricula or scripted teaching guides — you build your workshops independently from the ground up
  • Instructing in other academic disciplines — your scope is reading workshops and motivational guidance, not mathematics or science content
  • Managing behavior or basic supervision — each session centers on specific learning targets with quantifiable results
  • Operating independently — you engage directly with the engineers who develop the AI systems your students interact with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student under your guidance achieves at or above grade-level reading proficiency through AI-enhanced workshops that transform phonics instruction into an engaging, trackable, and enjoyable experience

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree accompanied by either a Master's in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for student and family communication)
  • 2+ years conducting small-group reading interventions with early elementary students
  • Competent in evaluating reading proficiency, organizing learner groups, and crafting differentiated instruction independent of published curricula
  • Experienced with AI/adaptive learning platforms and attentive to student behavioral data
  • Authorized to work legally in Puerto Rico without employer sponsorship
  • Prepared to work on-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
