Director of Member Relations   $200,000 USD/year

Description

While most enrollment positions prioritize throughput, this role is designed to safeguard quality.

Alpha is constructing one of the world's most forward-thinking school models. Our campuses integrate demanding academics, technology-enabled instruction, and elevated expectations for both learners and educators. Students routinely advance at rates exceeding national averages, supported by measurable outcomes. Afternoon hours are dedicated to deeper exploration, autonomy, and practical skill development. The model delivers results. It succeeds, however, only when paired with compatible families. Your responsibility begins here.

You will control the complete admissions process for a campus, spanning initial application to final enrollment. This is not a relay position. You determine how families perceive us, how fully they grasp the model, and whether their enrollment choice stems from sound reasoning. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate informed discussions, and advise against enrollment when circumstances warrant it. Maximum numbers are not the objective. Mutual alignment is.

We welcome applicants from elevated service sectors outside conventional education: selective independent schools, competitive programs, upscale hospitality, executive administration, premium membership institutions, or entrepreneurs who have directly orchestrated high-stakes client experiences from inception to completion. What counts is your capacity to execute a detailed, phased process with discernment, transparency, and consistent follow-through. If your professional background centers on delivering exceptional service where confidence, discretion, and experiential excellence shape the brand identity, this position will resonate. Apply now to contribute that caliber of work to a mission of consequence.

What you will be doing

  • Directing the complete enrollment experience for prospective families, spanning initial outreach through final onboarding.
  • Facilitating needs-based dialogues to evaluate compatibility prior to offering recommendations or outlining subsequent steps.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family engagements across various enrollment phases, maintaining transparent tracking of status and required follow-up.
  • Facilitating campus visits, student shadow days, and enrollment discussions that articulate results, standards, and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Keeping precise CRM and enrollment documentation (HubSpot and SIS) to enable accurate forecasting, strategic prioritization, and service excellence.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Employing transactional or aggressive sales approaches.
  • Accepting families with poor model fit merely to satisfy enrollment targets.
  • Supervising sizable teams or operating within complex hierarchical structures.
  • Transferring responsibility for the family experience across multiple departments.
  • Performing work remotely. This position requires on-campus presence.

Key responsibilities

Direct and deliver a high-integrity, selective enrollment process that secures appropriately matched families while preserving the effectiveness and standards of the Alpha educational model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing elevated, individualized service in settings where service excellence directly influences organizational reputation (education, upscale hospitality, executive administration, premium membership services, or independently operated client services).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment process spanning initial engagement through successful onboarding.
  • Track record managing 20+ simultaneous client, guest, or family accounts at varying progression stages, supported by organized tracking and prioritization methods.
  • Capability to present specific instances of advisory decision-making, including occasions when you recommended against your offering due to misalignment.
  • Professional correspondence experience with C-level executives, affluent clientele, or discerning stakeholders.
  • Readiness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these locations: Malibu, CA; Los Angeles, CA; or Santa Barbara, CA.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Background in competitive independent school admissions or selective program recruitment.
  • History in upscale hospitality, VIP client relations, or executive-level administrative positions.
  • Experience developing or optimizing enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service benchmarks.
  • Proficiency leveraging analytics and CRM intelligence to enhance conversion appropriateness, not merely velocity.
