Startup Coach   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • Austin, TX on-site position (we provide relocation support)
  • Annual salary of $150,000, distributed weekly. Health benefits begin on day one.

The greatest support you can offer a teenager launching a business is to never allow them to accept mediocrity. You understand that maintaining high expectations isn't about applying pressure—it's about demonstrating your belief in their capacity to achieve. If this resonates with you, continue reading.

You'll work with high school students who are building companies with genuine $1M upside potential. These aren't classroom exercises or hypothetical scenarios. You'll dedicate approximately 60-65% of your time to individual coaching sessions: pinpointing where founders are encountering obstacles, determining the most impactful next step, and ensuring accountability to concrete action plans. The remaining 35-40% divides between overseeing academic performance and facilitating workshops designed to build practical capabilities, not merely theoretical knowledge.

This role differs fundamentally from traditional teaching. You are accountable for comprehensive student outcomes: venture advancement, academic performance, and personal development simultaneously. You'll leverage dashboards, business progress reports, and academic metrics to coach with data-driven precision rather than instinct alone. When academic performance begins to decline? You address it proactively before it escalates. When a venture loses momentum? You identify the actual bottleneck, not the easier conversation.

You'll begin by understanding each student's business, their core strengths, and their recurring challenges. Within several months, you become the advisor whose guidance they genuinely trust, precisely because you've operated in similar environments yourself. The fulfillment comes from witnessing a 16-year-old arrive with a concept and depart with an operational enterprise, the organizational discipline to sustain it, and academic results that preserve all future opportunities.

If you've sought a position where your operational background directly influences emerging entrepreneurs, submit your application now. If you require standardized lesson plans, predictable classroom routines, or an environment where effort alone suffices, this isn't the right fit.

What you will be doing

  • Providing 1:1 coaching to student founders on strategic direction, execution tactics, and scaling decisions — consuming approximately two-thirds of your weekly schedule
  • Analyzing student dashboards, venture updates, and academic metrics to assess progress and establish actionable next steps
  • Tracking academic results and proactively addressing issues when concentration or prioritization begins to falter
  • Designing and delivering workshops that produce tangible, immediately applicable learning outcomes
  • Facilitating stand-ups, review sessions, and group conversations that maintain student commitment to their stated objectives

What you will NOT be doing

  • Conducting traditional lectures or adhering to predetermined curricula (you enable experiential learning, not conventional classroom teaching)
  • Offering generalized mentorship or inspirational messages without concrete action commitments and follow-through
  • Handling student administrative tasks — calendar management, documentation, or admissions processes
  • Attending lengthy faculty meetings or navigating institutional red tape (your focus remains concentrated on direct student engagement)

Key responsibilities

Propel student founders toward ventures with $1M potential while simultaneously maintaining their academic trajectory.

  • Minimum 1 year working with younger individuals (students, emerging professionals, or youth program participants) on initiatives, educational objectives, or entrepreneurial efforts
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Nice to have

  • Personal experience founding, co-founding, or running a startup or early-stage venture

  • Experience in K-12 education, EdTech, or initiatives combining academic rigor with practical application (such as accelerators, project-based curricula, or entrepreneurship programs)
