Coaching Manager   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • In-person roles in Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Chicago, IL; Bethesda, MD; or New York City, NY (we provide relocation assistance)
  • $200,000 annual salary, paid weekly | Full health, dental, and vision coverage from day one

The kindest thing you can do for a student who achieves 99% is to refuse to round it up to 100%. Not because you lack empathy — but because you know they're capable of reaching it, and settling is the true disservice. If that reasoning resonates, continue reading. If it feels too demanding, this position will not be a fit.

Students at Alpha don't passively absorb lectures. They advance through adaptive applications at double the speed of conventional classrooms while simultaneously developing practical life competencies. Your responsibility is to ensure three commitments are fulfilled for every child in your group: they enjoy school, they accelerate their learning by 2x, and they acquire capabilities beyond what traditional materials provide. You will also develop the Guides who execute these same commitments throughout your campus.

Each morning begins with data review. Coachbot analytics reveal which students are progressing and which require additional support. By mid-morning you're facilitating a live life skills workshop with your K-8 group, adhering to Alpha's established framework. Post-lunch involves observing a Guide's session, followed by delivering three concrete action items to refine their execution. On certain days you'll lead motivation huddles, converting leaderboard rankings and campus currency into momentum that re-engages reluctant learners.

You'll witness reserved children present with confidence to adults. You'll observe a student who previously "despised school" request to remain after hours. And you'll recognize that the standard you maintained is precisely what enabled their success, because upholding expectations is how you demonstrate belief in someone's potential.

If you've demolished benchmarks, transformed underperformers into top achievers, and you're prepared to do it for children, submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour live life skills and social-emotional learning (SEL) sessions with K-8 students on subjects including public speaking and focus, using Alpha's structured framework
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions designed to achieve 100% student completion of weekly app targets through age-appropriate motivators such as campus currency and leaderboards
  • Developing Guides via observation, precise feedback, and direct training so they execute workshops with equivalent energy and accuracy
  • Analyzing Coachbot analytics and student data to pinpoint individuals requiring intervention, then personally executing that intervention
  • Directly mentoring your assigned student cohort, demonstrating the coaching and motivation techniques you require from all Guides

What you will NOT be doing

  • Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum. Students progress through adaptive apps; your focus is elevating the people supporting them.
  • Delivering traditional classroom lectures. You're 80% performer, 20% content expert; if standing at a whiteboard appeals to you, look elsewhere.
  • Accepting work that's "close enough." 100% mastery is the standard, and compromising it isn't compassion.
  • Spending time in an office managing administrative tasks. The majority of your day involves direct interaction with students and Guides.
  • Waiting extended periods for performance data. Results appear live in Coachbot and adjustments occur immediately.

Key responsibilities

Execute Alpha's 3 Promises for your cohort and the Guides under your leadership: every child enjoys school, learns at 2x speed, and develops authentic life skills.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, or comparable field
  • Demonstrated experience creating and executing educational programs, curricula, or training initiatives
  • Proven history of managing a team of 5 or more individuals, including responsibility for hiring and performance-based termination decisions
