Director of Parent Engagement   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • Location: On-site in Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla (San Diego), or Los Angeles (South Bay), CA
  • Compensation: $200,000 annually · Full-time salaried position
  • Full benefits package: Health, dental, vision, 401k, paid time off, and more

The families in your orbit already have access to every service imaginable. What they lack is someone they can trust instinctively and completely.

This position anchors that trust. You will be the individual families turn to when uncertainty arises, when they seek informed perspective, or when they need to share something meaningful. Not as a function of duty—but because trust has been deliberately built. How you show up will define their experience at one of five California locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, downtown San Francisco, La Jolla, or South Bay in Los Angeles.

Alpha represents a fundamentally different approach to schooling. Core academic work is completed in two hours daily through AI-enabled platforms, freeing students to focus on public speaking, critical reasoning, and practical application. There are no traditional lectures or rote assignments. Results place students in the top 1% nationally. The families we serve are discerning, well-counseled, and often cautious. They value clarity and depth over rehearsed messaging.

You will steward that dialogue across time—not simply during enrollment, but throughout years of partnership. You must be conversant in AI: its mechanics, its shortcomings, and its strategic importance. This matters especially when engaging families who lead companies, deploy capital, or demand rigor in every interaction. If you lack fluency at that level, the role will prove taxing. If you possess it, this becomes among the most intellectually rewarding positions in the education sector.

This is not client management in a conventional sense. It is sustained trust-building with ultra-high-net-worth families who demand discretion, discernment, and steadiness. If that setting resonates with you—and if you already integrate AI into how you think, communicate, and operate—the strategic value here will be immediately apparent.

What you will be doing

  • Serve as the primary relationship steward for every family at your campus, cultivating trust that deepens over time
  • Identify and address concerns proactively, managing them with tact, urgency, and mature judgment
  • Sustain consistent visibility during pivotal campus moments: morning arrivals, afternoon departures, and thoughtfully designed parent gatherings
  • Facilitate ongoing, substantive dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered methodology with analytically sophisticated, technology-literate families
  • Develop and iterate on community-building initiatives that foster belonging, endorsement, and organic referral activity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your engagement begins once families have committed
  • Working primarily from a desk or through digital correspondence alone—this demands in-person presence
  • Relying on prepared responses or sidestepping challenging inquiries about AI or educational philosophy
  • Depending on established playbooks—you will construct frameworks in areas where none currently exist
  • Viewing families as transactional relationships—this role values discernment over task execution

Key responsibilities

Establish and maintain enduring trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, driving sustained retention, active advocacy, and unwavering confidence in Alpha's AI-enabled educational approach.

Candidate requirements

  • Residing in or capable of daily commute to Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla, or Los Angeles
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience engaging UHNW individuals or families in contexts such as private education, private equity, family offices, or premium client service settings
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage sophisticated, high-stakes relationships with discretion and mature judgment
  • Regular, hands-on user of AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with the skill to articulate AI functionality, vulnerabilities, and boundaries
  • Commanding presence and interpersonal style that secures credibility among highly educated, expectation-driven families
  • Understanding of private or independent school environments, gained either through professional work or personal exposure
  • Flexibility to be present during early mornings, late afternoons, and occasional evening or weekend programming

Nice to have

  • Pre-existing connections within regional private school or UHNW networks
  • Background engaging with founders, investors, or technology executives
  • Demonstrated success in creating community experiences that generate word-of-mouth referrals
  • Exposure to early-stage or rapidly scaling organizations where clarity is often limited
  • Capability to distill complex technical material into accessible, confident dialogue
