Director of Community Partnerships   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site location: Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla (San Diego), or Los Angeles (South Bay), CA
  • Full-time salary · $200,000/yr
  • Benefits include: Health, vision, dental, 401k, PTO, and more

The families you'll serve aren't looking for another vendor. They're looking for someone they can trust completely.

This position occupies the center of that trust equation. You'll be the individual families turn to when something doesn't feel right, when they're seeking clarity, or when they want to discuss what matters most. Not as a transactional obligation—but because you will have earned that standing. How you show up will define their experience with their child's education across one of five California locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, downtown San Francisco, La Jolla, or South Bay (Los Angeles).

Alpha is constructing a fundamentally different school model. Students complete their core academic work in two hours daily through AI-powered systems, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and practical execution. No traditional lectures. No unnecessary assignments. Top 1% outcomes nationally. Our parent community is sophisticated, well-counseled, and frequently skeptical. They demand clarity and sound reasoning, not rehearsed talking points.

You'll steward that dialogue across years, not just at the point of enrollment. You must be able to discuss AI fluently—its mechanics, its shortcomings, and its significance—particularly with families who operate companies, fund them, or demand rigor in every choice they make. If you're unable to sustain that caliber of exchange, this role will prove difficult. If you can, it becomes one of the most intellectually rewarding positions in the education sector.

This is not client servicing in the conventional sense. This is the cultivation of enduring trust with ultra-high-net-worth families who require discretion, discernment, and reliability. If that setting feels natural to you—and you use AI tools daily to accelerate your thinking, writing, and execution—the scope of this opportunity will be immediately evident.

What you will be doing

  • Take ownership of the complete relationship with every family at your campus, cultivating trust that deepens over time
  • Identify potential concerns proactively and address them with discretion, urgency, and solid judgment
  • Be highly visible during critical touchpoints: morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up, and intentionally designed parent gatherings
  • Facilitate continuous, substantive dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered approach with analytical, technology-oriented families
  • Create and iterate on community programming that fosters connection, advocacy, and organic referral activity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your work begins once families are onboard
  • Operating from behind a desk or relying solely on email—this demands in-person engagement
  • Using prepared scripts or avoiding difficult questions about AI or our educational philosophy
  • Depending on established playbooks—you'll create structure where it doesn't currently exist
  • Viewing families as transactional relationships—this role values discernment over task execution

Key responsibilities

Establish and maintain profound trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, securing sustained retention, advocacy, and confidence in Alpha's AI-driven educational approach.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in or capable of daily commuting to Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla, or Los Angeles
  • 5+ years of direct experience working with UHNW individuals or families in settings such as private schools, private equity, family offices, or high-touch client service roles
  • Demonstrated capability to manage intricate, high-stakes relationships with discretion and thoughtful judgment
  • Daily, hands-on use of AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with the capacity to articulate AI strengths, vulnerabilities, and boundaries
  • Commanding presence and communication approach that builds credibility with highly educated, demanding families
  • Understanding of private or independent school environments, gained through professional or personal exposure
  • Flexibility to be available for early morning, late afternoon, and occasional evening or weekend programming

Nice to have

  • Pre-existing connections within local private school or UHNW networks
  • Background working alongside founders, investors, or technology executives
  • Demonstrated success in creating community initiatives or experiences that generate natural referrals
  • Experience navigating early-stage or rapidly scaling organizations where clarity is limited
  • Skill in distilling complex technical material into clear, assured dialogue
