Director of Community Partnerships   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site: Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla (San Diego), or Los Angeles (South Bay), CA
  • $200,000/yr · Full-time salary
  • Benefits: Health, vision, dental, 401k, PTO, etc.

The families you serve don't require additional services. What they require is someone they trust implicitly.

This position occupies the heart of that trust. You will be the individual families turn to when intuition signals concern, when clarity is needed, or when they wish to discuss what truly matters. Not as a function of your title—but because trust has been established through your presence. You will influence how they perceive their child's education at one of five California locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, downtown San Francisco, La Jolla, or South Bay (Los Angeles).

Alpha is constructing an education model unlike others. Students fulfill core academic requirements in two hours daily through AI-powered platforms, dedicating remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and real-world application. No traditional lectures. No extraneous assignments. Nationally ranked top 1% outcomes. Our families are informed, well-counseled, and frequently discerning. They demand intellectual rigor, not rehearsed responses.

You will steward that dialogue over the long term. Not only during enrollment, but throughout years of engagement. You will communicate with fluency about AI—its mechanics, its constraints, and its significance—particularly with families who launch companies, fund them, or demand exactness in all matters. If you cannot sustain that caliber of conversation, this role will prove challenging. If you can, it becomes among the most intellectually stimulating positions in education.

This is not relationship management in the conventional sense. This is sustained trust-building with ultra-high-net-worth families who demand discretion, discernment, and steadiness. If that setting feels natural—and you leverage AI daily to accelerate thinking, writing, and execution—the opportunity will be immediately apparent.

What you will be doing

  • Steward the complete relationship with each family on campus, cultivating trust that deepens progressively
  • Identify concerns proactively and address them with discretion, efficiency, and thoughtful judgment
  • Sustain strong visibility at critical junctures: morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up, and intentionally designed parent gatherings
  • Facilitate ongoing, substantive dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered approach with analytically rigorous, technology-oriented families
  • Create and iterate on community programming that fosters connection, advocacy, and sustained referral activity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your responsibility commences after families enroll
  • Working primarily from a desk or relying solely on email—this position demands physical presence
  • Using templated responses or avoiding difficult inquiries about AI or pedagogy
  • Depending on established frameworks—you will create structure where none currently exists
  • Approaching families as transactional relationships—this role values discernment over procedural execution

Key responsibilities

Establish and maintain profound trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, securing sustained retention, advocacy, and conviction in Alpha's AI-powered education model.

Candidate requirements

  • Based in or able to commute daily to Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla, or Los Angeles
  • 5+ years working directly with UHNW individuals or families in private schools, private equity, family offices, or elite client service environments
  • Proven ability to navigate complex, high-stakes relationships with discretion and sound judgment
  • Active, daily user of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with the ability to clearly explain AI capabilities, risks, and limitations
  • Strong presence and communication style that earns credibility with highly educated, high-expectation families
  • Familiarity with private or independent school ecosystems, either professionally or personally
  • Availability for early mornings, late afternoons, and select evening or weekend events

Nice to have

  • Established relationships within local private school or UHNW communities
  • Background working with founders, investors, or tech executives
  • Demonstrated success building communities or experiences that generate organic referrals
  • Experience in early-stage or high-growth settings characterized by significant ambiguity
  • Capacity to distill complex technical concepts into articulate, assured dialogue
