Structured Literacy Specialist   $60,000 USD/year

Description

You recognize the turning point. A student who once struggled now reads fluently and without fear. The hesitation disappears. Progress becomes visible. If guiding students to that transformation drives your work, this position is designed for you.

Novatio is a remote-first school committed to advancing student learning through individualized support, high-quality instruction, and data-driven results. We understand that students with reading challenges need more than digital tools and practice sheets. They require precise intervention, steady encouragement, and teachers who adjust their approach in the moment.

In this position, you will provide virtual reading intervention for students in grades 3–8 while fostering the confidence and determination that support sustained growth. You will analyze assessment data to identify skill deficits, modify instruction responsively, and design interventions tailored to each student's needs. You will also facilitate brief motivation sessions that keep students engaged, accountable, and proud of what they accomplish.

This position suits someone who values independence, immediate feedback, and tangible results. If you seek the freedom to customize instruction while supporting students in achieving measurable improvements in reading fluency and comprehension, we want to hear from you.

What you will be doing

  • Providing virtual one-on-one and small-group reading intervention for students in grades 3–8
  • Analyzing assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify comprehension and fluency deficits and modify instruction as needed
  • Adapting instruction across varied reading levels, including interventions for students with dyslexia and similar reading challenges
  • Monitoring student progress systematically and applying the data to shape future intervention strategies
  • Facilitating structured motivation sessions that build confidence, persistence, and a sense of ownership over learning

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering large-format lessons using a standardized, inflexible curriculum
  • Adhering to prescriptive intervention protocols without responding to individual student needs
  • Serving as a passive facilitator for software-driven learning platforms
  • Relying on superficial rewards instead of cultivating genuine motivation and self-assurance in students

Key responsibilities

Produce measurable improvements in reading fluency and comprehension for students in grades 3–8 through customized virtual intervention and motivational support that fosters enduring confidence.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a related field
  • Reading intervention certification or equivalent state endorsement (e.g., Reading Specialist certification or equivalent)
  • Training or certification in dyslexia intervention or structured literacy approaches
  • At least 2 years of experience delivering one-on-one or small-group reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
  • Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
  • Ability to interpret student progress data and use it to adjust instruction effectively
  • Strong virtual communication and student engagement skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States
