Literacy Interventionist   $60,000 USD/year

Description

You recognize the turning point. A student who struggled to decode text suddenly reads fluently and without fear. The tension lifts. The trajectory shifts. If driving students toward that moment is what drives you, this position is designed for you.

Novatio operates as a fully remote school committed to advancing student achievement through individualized support, deliberate instruction, and outcomes that can be measured. We understand that students who struggle with reading require more than digital tools and practice sheets. They require focused intervention, reliable encouragement, and teachers who can adjust their approach as learning unfolds.

In this position, you will conduct virtual reading intervention sessions for students in grades 3–8 and help them develop the confidence and determination that sustain progress over time. You will analyze assessment data to identify areas of need, modify instruction rapidly, and design interventions that respond to each student's starting point. You will also facilitate brief motivation conversations that maintain student engagement, accountability, and pride in achievement.

This position suits someone who values independence, rapid instructional feedback, and tangible results. If you want the freedom to customize instruction while supporting students in achieving measurable improvement in reading fluency and comprehension, we would like to speak with you.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting virtual one-on-one and small-group reading intervention sessions for students in grades 3–8
  • Analyzing assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify comprehension and fluency deficits and modify instruction rapidly
  • Customizing instruction across varied reading levels, including interventions for students with dyslexia and related reading disorders
  • Monitoring student progress systematically and applying the data to shape future intervention strategies
  • Facilitating structured motivation conversations that reinforce confidence, persistence, and accountability for growth

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering large lecture-format classes using a standardized curriculum
  • Adhering to inflexible intervention protocols without responding to individual student needs
  • Serving as a passive supervisor for software-driven learning platforms
  • Relying on superficial rewards rather than cultivating genuine student motivation and self-assurance

Key responsibilities

Produce measurable improvement in reading fluency and comprehension for students in grades 3–8 through individualized virtual intervention and motivation support that develops enduring confidence.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a related field
  • Reading intervention certification or equivalent state endorsement (e.g., Reading Specialist certification or equivalent)
  • Training or certification in dyslexia intervention or structured literacy approaches
  • At least 2 years of experience delivering one-on-one or small-group reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
  • Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
  • Ability to interpret student progress data and use it to adjust instruction effectively
  • Strong virtual communication and student engagement skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States
