Reading Interventionist   $60,000 USD/year

Description

You recognize the turning point. A learner who has been struggling suddenly reads with assurance rather than uncertainty. The frustration lifts. The trajectory shifts. If guiding students to that turning point is what drives you, this position was designed for you.

Novatio is a completely remote school committed to helping students achieve substantial academic growth through individualized support, effective teaching, and quantifiable results. We understand that struggling readers require more than digital tools and practice sheets. They require focused intervention, steady encouragement, and instructors who understand how to adjust on the fly.

In this position, you will provide virtual reading intervention sessions for learners in grades 3–8 while supporting them in developing the confidence and determination that fuel sustainable progress. You will apply assessment data to identify skill deficits, modify instruction rapidly, and design interventions that address students at their current level. You will also facilitate brief motivation conversations that keep learners engaged, responsible, and proud of their advancement.

This position is well-suited for someone who appreciates independence, rapid feedback cycles, and concrete results. If you seek the freedom to customize instruction while supporting students in achieving measurable improvements in reading fluency and comprehension, we are interested in speaking with you.

What you will be doing

  • Providing virtual one-on-one and small-group reading intervention sessions for learners in grades 3–8
  • Applying assessment and progress-monitoring data to address comprehension and fluency deficits and modify instruction rapidly
  • Customizing instruction across varied reading levels, including assistance for students with dyslexia and associated reading challenges
  • Monitoring student advancement regularly and applying the data to shape upcoming intervention strategies
  • Facilitating structured motivation conversations that reinforce confidence, determination, and ownership of progress

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing large lecture-format classes using a predetermined curriculum
  • Adhering to inflexible intervention protocols without responding to student requirements
  • Serving as a passive supervisor for software-driven learning platforms
  • Relying on superficial rewards instead of cultivating genuine student motivation and confidence

Key responsibilities

Generate measurable improvements in reading fluency and comprehension for learners in grades 3–8 through customized virtual intervention and motivation support that fosters enduring confidence.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a related field
  • Reading intervention certification or equivalent state endorsement (e.g., Reading Specialist certification or equivalent)
  • Training or certification in dyslexia intervention or structured literacy approaches
  • At least 2 years of experience delivering one-on-one or small-group reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
  • Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
  • Ability to interpret student progress data and use it to adjust instruction effectively
  • Strong virtual communication and student engagement skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States
