Student Success Coach   $150,000 USD/year

Description

You have accomplished difficult things. You have operated within rigorous standards. You understand the distinction between effort and execution. If you are ready to apply that discipline in a setting where it reshapes a student's future, this position was designed for you.

Alpha School leverages AI-driven 1:1 instruction, enabling students to complete core academics in approximately two hours per day. The remaining time is dedicated to life skills, passion projects, and meaningful development. At our most demanding campuses, students require more than oversight—they need a credible mentor capable of assessing group dynamics, establishing expectations, and guiding them through resistance, distractions, and uncertainty.

This is not conventional classroom teaching. You will not deliver lectures, assign grades, or develop curriculum. Your role is to coach. You will facilitate structured life-skills workshops. You will interpret data to identify what is preventing a student from progressing, then guide them with intention and precision until they execute.

If you possess a distinguishing credential and a history of elevating others' outcomes, we want to speak with you. Apply to contribute to a campus environment where students arrive prepared, develop tangible competencies, and surpass challenging objectives.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitate 1:1 and small-group coaching conversations that convert student objectives into reliable action and trackable outcomes
  • Leverage data and individual goals to identify obstacles and design challenging, personalized accountability frameworks
  • Conduct structured life-skills workshops grounded in authentic examples, deliberate reflection, and practical use, followed by competency evaluation
  • Guide daily opening sessions that establish culture, communicate high standards, and orient students before work begins
  • Build trusted coaching relationships with students and their families through unwavering standards, reliability, and thoughtful decision-making

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver traditional instruction, present lectures, or provide academic tutoring
  • Develop curricula, write lesson plans, or evaluate student assignments
  • Oversee staff, handle campus logistics, or assume administrative leadership responsibilities
  • Reduce expectations to secure immediate compliance or superficial progress

Key responsibilities

This position ensures that students at Alpha's most rigorous campuses remain deeply engaged and accomplish continuous progress and life-skill development through elite, standards-driven coaching.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • At least one demonstrable elite marker (athletics, academics, career achievement, or elite coaching)
  • Proven experience in direct mentoring, coaching, or leadership roles that produced measurable performance improvements in others
  • Confidence working in high-accountability settings with defined expectations and consistent execution
  • Capability to facilitate compelling, high-rigor group workshops and provide individual coaching with sound judgment
  • Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) onsite at Alpha's Austin campus
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice to have

  • Several elite markers with documented success in elevating standards and results
  • Track record of applying data and analytics to inform coaching strategies and accountability structures
  • Professional history in competitive organizations, high-growth startups, or elite athletics environments with demanding performance cultures
