Director of Parent Engagement   $250,000 USD/year

Description

The families you serve do not require additional services. They require someone they trust implicitly.

This position anchors that trust. You will be the individual families turn to when uncertainty arises, when perspective is needed, or when they wish to communicate something significant. Not because it is obligatory—but because you have cultivated it. Your influence will define how they perceive their child's education at one of two Bay Area locations: downtown San Francisco or San Rafael.

Alpha is constructing a fundamentally different school. Students finish core academics in two hours daily through AI-driven platforms, dedicating the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical reasoning, and practical application. No lectures. No redundant assignments. Top 1% achievement nationwide. Our families are informed, well-counseled, and frequently skeptical. They demand clarity of thought, not rehearsed responses.

You will steward that dialogue over the long term. Not only during enrollment, but across multiple years. You will articulate AI fluently—its mechanics, its shortcomings, and its significance—particularly with families who launch enterprises, fund them, or demand rigor in every choice. If you are unable to sustain that caliber of dialogue, this position will prove demanding. If you can, it becomes among the most intellectually stimulating roles in education.

This is not relationship management. This is enduring trust with ultra-high-net-worth families who expect discretion, sound reasoning, and reliability. If that setting feels recognizable—and you utilize AI daily to think, compose, and execute more efficiently—you will perceive the opportunity at once.

What you will be doing

  • Steward the complete relationship with each family on campus, cultivating trust that deepens over time
  • Identify concerns proactively and address them with discretion, efficiency, and clear judgment
  • Sustain high visibility during critical moments: morning arrival, afternoon departure, and purposefully designed parent gatherings
  • Facilitate continuous, substantive dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered approach with highly analytical, technology-oriented families
  • Architect and iterate community experiences that foster belonging, endorsement, and referral activity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your engagement commences after families enroll
  • Operating primarily from a desk or relying solely on email correspondence—this is a high-visibility role
  • Adhering to scripts or avoiding difficult inquiries about AI or pedagogy
  • Depending on established frameworks—you will construct systems where none currently exist
  • Approaching families transactionally—this role values judgment over task execution

Key responsibilities

Establish and maintain profound trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, securing sustained retention, advocacy, and unwavering confidence in Alpha's AI-driven education model.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in or capable of commuting daily to San Francisco or San Rafael
  • 5+ years engaging directly with UHNW individuals or families in elite client service settings, family offices, private equity, or private schools
  • Demonstrated capability to manage nuanced, high-stakes relationships with discretion and judicious decision-making
  • Regular, daily engagement with AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity) and the capacity to articulate AI strengths, vulnerabilities, and constraints with clarity
  • Commanding presence and communication approach that secures credibility with highly educated, demanding families
  • Knowledge of independent or private school environments, whether through professional or personal exposure
  • Flexibility for early morning, late afternoon, and occasional evening or weekend programming

Nice to have

  • Established connections within Bay Area UHNW or private school networks
  • Background working alongside tech executives, investors, or founders
  • Proven success in designing communities or experiences that generate organic referral growth
  • Experience navigating early-stage or rapid-growth settings characterized by significant ambiguity
  • Capability to distill complex technical material into clear, assured dialogue
