Senior Software Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This role is designed for experienced engineers who value ownership, strategic impact, and solving sophisticated technical problems. You will develop critical product features while guiding technical architecture and safeguarding long-term reliability and scalability. The technical choices you make will have direct consequences for the product and its user base, offering both the freedom to innovate and the accountability to execute.

The products you'll contribute to are reshaping education:

  • TeachTap: Uses AI to animate historical figures in an immersive, TikTok-style learning platform.
  • TeachTales: Delivers personalized, engaging storytelling experiences that improve student comprehension.
  • TimeBack: Functions as a learning copilot, embedding itself in existing applications to provide real-time student coaching.
  • Athena: Employs AI-generated video content and assessments to produce tangible academic improvements.

Your role will be to lead the technical advancement of these products, making them scalable, maintainable, and resilient over time. Working hand-in-hand with product teams, you will convert broad requirements into concrete technical strategies and address intricate challenges without compromising quality. The decisions you make will define the product roadmap and affect the learning journeys of thousands of students.

We emphasize deliberate planning and design-first thinking. Our AI-first methodology automates repetitive work, allowing you to concentrate on high-value decisions and complex problem-solving. You will enjoy significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape product strategy while championing long-term stability and growth.

If you are prepared to steer the technical transformation of our SaaS offerings and harness generative AI to explore new frontiers, we want to connect with you.

What you will be doing

  • Feature Development: Architecting and delivering new capabilities with an emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and sustained product value.
  • Requirement Engineering: Partnering with product leadership to clarify specifications and driving technical conversations to ensure features align with overarching product objectives.
  • Operations and Maintenance: Overseeing product health, optimizing performance, and preemptively surfacing and addressing potential issues.
  • Technical Design: Making high-stakes technical choices that directly shape user experience and product scalability.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Jumping between short-lived projects or pursuing the latest technology fads.
  • Building internal IT systems or handling outsourced work with no tangible user outcomes.
  • Spending excessive time in meetings or wrestling with tedious infrastructure tasks.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 1 year of full-stack development experience, delivering both frontend and backend features.
  • At least 2 years serving as the principal technical contributor for a SaaS product, making strategic technical decisions.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience building real SaaS products, excluding outsourcing or internal IT initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience using generative AI tools as part of your daily development workflow.
