Principal Software Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This position is designed for a senior-level engineer who excels at strategic ownership and solving high-complexity technical problems. You will be responsible for developing critical product features while directing the technical roadmap and safeguarding the product's stability and scalability. The technical choices you make will have a direct effect on both the product and its end users, granting you the freedom to innovate and the accountability to execute.

The products you'll contribute to are reshaping education:

  • TeachTap: Uses AI to animate historical figures in a TikTok-inspired educational format.
  • TeachTales: Delivers personalized, narrative-driven learning experiences that enhance student comprehension.
  • TimeBack: Functions as an intelligent learning assistant that connects with existing applications and provides proactive student guidance.
  • Athena: Employs AI-generated video content and assessments to produce quantifiable learning results.

Your role will involve driving the technical progression of these products, making certain they remain scalable, maintainable, and resilient over time. Working in close partnership with product stakeholders, you will convert broad requirements into precise technical designs and address intricate challenges while upholding rigorous quality benchmarks. The decisions you make will define the product's trajectory and affect the educational journeys of thousands of students.

We emphasize deliberate planning and upfront architectural design. Our AI-driven methodology automates routine work, allowing you to concentrate on impactful decisions and sophisticated problem-solving. You will enjoy substantial autonomy and the opportunity to shape product strategy while prioritizing long-term stability and scalability.

If you are prepared to spearhead the technical transformation of our SaaS offerings and harness generative AI to redefine what's possible, we invite your application.

What you will be doing

  • Feature Development: Architecting and building new capabilities with an emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and sustained product value.
  • Requirement Engineering: Partnering with product teams to clarify requirements and guiding technical conversations to ensure features align with overarching product objectives.
  • Operations and Maintenance: Overseeing product stability through monitoring, performance optimization, and proactive identification and resolution of operational issues.
  • Technical Design: Executing high-stakes technical decisions that directly shape user experience and product scalability.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Jumping between transient projects or pursuing the latest trend-driven technologies.
  • Contributing to internal IT infrastructure or outsourced engagements that lack direct user impact.
  • Spending excessive time in meetings or managing tedious infrastructure maintenance tasks.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 1 year of full-stack development experience, working on front and backend features.
  • At least 2 years as the primary technical contributor for a SaaS product, driving strategic technical decisions.
  • At least 4 years of experience working on actual SaaS products, not outsourcing or internal IT projects.
  • Experience in using generative AI in your day-to-day development work.
