Head of School   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • Springfield, MA, USA. 200,000 dollar salary, paid weekly
  • Day-one health benefits

Springfield students are being constrained by a system that prevents you from upholding the standards they need to succeed.

Alpha is opening a new campus in this city, and we are seeking a leader who already knows Springfield's educational landscape. You will oversee a team of 15 plus Guides who mentor and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all core instruction. No traditional teaching. Focused execution. Operational leadership.

Your objective: guarantee that every student is engaged, progresses at twice the rate of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life competencies. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will uphold rigorous standards, base decisions on data, and establish Houston's top-performing school from the outset.

Lead through metrics. Develop excellence. Apply today.

What you will be doing

  • Launch Alpha's Springfield, MA campus: Execute Alpha's three core commitments to 100 plus students from opening day with operational precision in every area.
  • Facilitate live life skills workshops with K through 12 students: Lead compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback skills. Apply Alpha's established framework to ensure students develop capabilities overlooked by traditional schools while staying highly engaged.
  • Drive every student to 100 percent goal achievement: Develop customized motivational strategies for each individual student. Apply data-informed methods to address challenges and sustain student engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their objectives.
  • Develop Guides through targeted coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint performance deficiencies. Provide specific, actionable guidance during coaching interactions and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability through objective, logic-based standards rather than empathy that undermines expectations.
  • Execute data-informed campus leadership: Evaluate performance across personnel, operations, parent relations, and school culture. Identify issues, perform root cause investigations, engage stakeholders, and deploy measurable interventions. Monitor every initiative and refine based on outcomes.
  • Uphold uncompromising standards: Establish and sustain Alpha's excellence benchmarks for both students and staff. Execute difficult decisions when results fall below expectations. Model the standard of excellence across your campus.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
  • Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Springfield, MA education environment. This familiarity with local student demographics, community characteristics, and the competitive school landscape is critically important for Alpha's Springfield launch.
  • Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Commitment to educational transformation. Conviction that the conventional system is fundamentally inadequate.
  • Startup orientation: excels under pressure, flexible in evolving environments, confident building infrastructure from the ground up
  • Dynamic and engaging communicator who captures attention from large groups of students or staff
  • Capable of connecting with K through 12 students, comprehending their interests and culture, functioning as a positive role model
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
