The private school landscape in Miami is intimate, tightly networked, and intolerant of errors. A family's encounter with Alpha does not remain confined—it circulates through the networks that carry influence: the residential building, the club, the yacht, the philanthropic circuit, the WhatsApp threads that determine where the next applicant turns. You will grasp this reality intuitively, because your career has been spent in environments where reputation is the sole asset and a single lapse outlives all prior successes. You will cultivate a community families feel compelled to protect, where inclusion feels natural and referrals emerge because the experience justifies them.
Miami operates as a global city by nature. You will engage with families from Latin America, international executives, finance and technology professionals who have recently relocated to Miami, and transient households whose perspective on education—and on institutions broadly—has been informed by contexts well beyond the American independent school model. Many navigate Miami, São Paulo, Bogotá, Madrid, and New York with the same ease others traverse their own neighborhoods, and they will evaluate Alpha against alternatives anywhere globally. The ideal candidate for this position will be equally adept at managing cross-cultural family expectations—and the demand for seamless, sophisticated relationships—as they are the more recognizable dimensions of Miami's private school environment.
Alpha does not follow a conventional model. Students complete foundational academics in two hours daily through AI-supported applications, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical reasoning, and applied projects. No traditional instruction. No redundant assignments. Performance in the top 1% nationally.
The families who select it have made a deliberate choice—and in a city where educational decisions signal status and everyone holds opinions, they will face ongoing scrutiny. What you will be doing
- Shape the cultural fabric of the school community—the voice, rituals, and implicit standards that give families a sense of belonging—so Alpha is perceived as a place families take pride in, not merely an institution they selected
- Manage the full arc of parent engagement—from initial contact through enrollment, ongoing retention, and sustained advocacy—so teaching staff remain concentrated on students and families consistently have a trusted point of contact
- Detect early when dynamics shift or concerns surface, and address them with the discretion and judgment that preserves trust—including the more difficult assessment of when a family is not aligned with the school
- Maintain visibility where families gather: morning arrival, afternoon departure, evening programming, and the informal exchanges that carry the most weight
- Foster a community that both domestic and international families regard as worth defending—and where word-of-mouth advocacy occurs because the experience warrants it
- Articulate Alpha's narrative with conviction—in individual discussions, at gatherings, and in the circles of discerning, globally oriented families where the school's standing is truly established
What you will NOT be doing
- Operating from behind a desk—your visibility within the community defines the role
- Adhering to standard 9–5 schedules—early arrivals, late afternoons, and evening commitments are intrinsic to the position, not occasional
- Redirecting challenging parent discussions to faculty or other administrators—you assume full ownership of these
- Relying on administrative infrastructure, formalized procedures, or a complete team—you function with significant autonomy and construct what is required
- Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this role rewards authentic engagement, not procedural adherence
Key responsibilities
Serve as the central trusted relationship for every family's experience at Alpha's Miami campus, and act as the steward of the community's culture. Maintain their confidence during difficult moments, establish the traditions and tone that make belonging feel meaningful, and create the environment in which satisfied families evolve into active advocates within the networks that influence Miami's independent school sector.
Candidate requirements
- 5+ years successfully building and maintaining trust with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families in a relationship-intensive, service-oriented capacity
- Demonstrated success guiding discerning clients through consequential decisions—with measurable outcomes you can reference: conversion rates, retention figures, referral volume
- The discretion and poise to navigate sensitive, confidential matters without compromising relationships
- Proven experience managing and developing personnel—coaching, upholding rigorous standards, and executing difficult staffing decisions—not solely relationship or account oversight
- Innate cross-cultural fluency with both globally mobile and established Miami-based families
- AI-native orientation—you employ AI tools with proficiency, understand their strengths and constraints, and actively introduce superior solutions, even if you do not engineer them yourself
- Residing in Miami, available for full-time on-site engagement, and adaptable to non-traditional hours
- Legally eligible to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
Nice to have
- Background as a head of school, principal, superintendent, or in an equivalent leadership position within education
- Professional proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese
- Personal or professional exposure to independent or alternative educational models
- Pre-existing connections within Miami's private school parent communities
- Experience working with internationally mobile, Latin American, or globally networked families
- A personal network extending across the neighborhoods, social clubs, and institutions where Alpha's families reside and make decisions
