Youth Program Director   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site: Brownsville, TX (assistance with relocation provided)
  • $100,000 annually
  • Full-time position, 40 hours weekly

You've dedicated years to coaching young people — not merely instructing them. You understand the distinction: coaching involves connection, challenge, and a refusal to accept anything less than a student's full potential. Instruction is about content delivery. You've never functioned as a content delivery mechanism.

Alpha operates what may be the most unconventional educational model you'll encounter. Students don't occupy rows while being lectured to — they progress through AI-driven learning applications at individualized paces. Your role isn't explaining fractions. It's facilitating life skills workshops that captivate K-8 students, conducting motivation sessions that drive them toward weekly learning targets, and maintaining standards when students attempt to settle for mediocrity. The academic progression is self-managing. You address the human dimension.

This position offers meaningful advancement potential. Individuals who consistently achieve their metrics (100% cohort completion of weekly app targets, satisfaction scores above 90%) advance to Lead positions where they mentor fellow educators and influence campus culture.

The campus is located in Brownsville, adjacent to SpaceX's Starbase facility. If you're interested in working at one of the nation's most forward-thinking locations while doing work that transforms what children believe about their own capabilities, submit your application.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 students addressing topics including public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange
  • Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments following each workshop to verify genuine skill acquisition, not passive attendance
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions leveraging student profiles, personal interests, and Coachbot analytics to achieve 100% cohort completion of weekly app progression goals
  • Utilizing storytelling techniques, incentive structures (campus currency, leaderboards), and individual rapport to overcome student resistance
  • Monitoring cohort satisfaction metrics with a target of 90%+ on student surveys

What you will NOT be doing

  • Presenting material via traditional board lectures. Academic advancement occurs through self-directed applications, not through your direct instruction.
  • Providing passive supervision. While the environment involves children using computers, the position demands active engagement.
  • Compromising standards in response to student resistance. Test2Pass requirements remain constant regardless of individual student circumstances.
  • Creating curriculum independently — workshop playbooks and lesson frameworks are supplied; your responsibility is executing them with the presence and narrative skill that ensures genuine student comprehension.
  • Handling parent relations, admission processes, or campus operational oversight. Those fall under separate roles.

Key responsibilities

Guide a K-8 student cohort to achieve 100% completion of weekly academic targets while facilitating life skills workshops that maintain 90%+ satisfaction scores.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 (elementary and middle school) age students
  • Strong storytelling and facilitation abilities — capacity to maintain engagement with a group of children for one-hour sessions
  • Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Brownsville, TX campus
  • Authorization to work legally in the US without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program coordinator
  • Demonstrated history of high achievement in competitive settings (academic, athletic, or professional)
  • Familiarity with self-directed or application-based learning environments
