Instructional Designer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Do you possess the ability to decode phonetic patterns and dissect literary complexity with equal precision? Picture applying that mastery of language and literature alongside advanced AI to revolutionize how millions of learners develop their literacy and analytical skills. At 2 Hour Learning, we're not merely imagining the future of English instruction—we're engineering it into a responsive, personalized learning environment.

We are looking for a forward-thinking professional to spearhead our work in reimagining English and Language Arts instruction through sophisticated data interpretation, pioneering AI integration, and comprehensive subject expertise. Your objective? To achieve a twofold increase in the rate at which students acquire language skills and literary understanding, spanning foundational phonics through sophisticated critical analysis.

At 2 Hour Learning, we're reshaping K-12 instruction with measurable outcomes. Our AI-powered learning platform is changing the landscape of student achievement, allowing learners to attain mastery at double the pace of conventional education. We're not adjusting the existing framework; we're constructing an entirely new one, backed by compelling evidence. Students on our platform routinely earn scores of 4 and 5 on five or more AP examinations, exhibit growth exceeding two years on annual MAP evaluations, and surpass their own perceived limits.

If you're prepared to deploy substantial ELA knowledge within an AI-driven system delivering validated outcomes, submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Examine performance metrics from student reading and writing activities — including Reel engagement data, MAP assessment scores, and evaluation outcomes — leveraging AI processes and LLM orchestrations to pinpoint learning deficiencies and create focused interventions. (Approximately 40% of your role.)
  • Developing AI-enhanced instruments that respond to diverse learning preferences, transforming grammar instruction into something instinctive, vocabulary acquisition into an engaging pursuit, and literary interpretation into an attainable skill for learners across all proficiency levels.
  • Constructing flexible learning sequences that adjust continuously, shepherding students from foundational phonics through the interpretation of sophisticated texts, guaranteeing each individual advances at the most effective rate.
  • Collaborate with content experts, assessment professionals, and AI developers to ensure materials meet curriculum standards and verify the precision of AI-produced content.
  • Converting both classical and modern literary works into interactive, AI-augmented learning experiences that educate while simultaneously cultivating genuine enthusiasm for reading and writing.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing conventional English curricula or performing administrative duties—this position centers on innovation and strategic enhancement of language arts instruction and learning within our accelerated framework.
  • Manually evaluating large volumes of student essays — AI manages assessment scale, allowing you to concentrate on system refinement rather than paper grading.
  • Teaching aimed solely at standardized exam preparation — students in our program already exceed AP performance standards, enabling you to invest effort in advancing deeper understanding rather than test-prep drilling.

Key responsibilities

Drive accelerated mastery of English and Language Arts content across all educational levels, achieving twice the learning velocity of conventional teaching methods.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in English, Literature, Linguistics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience teaching English/Language Arts or developing ELA curriculum, with demonstrable impact on learning outcomes
  • Formal coursework in learning sciences, or 2+ years applying learning science principles in educational product or content development.
  • Basic coding abilities in any programming language
  • Experience designing, implementing, or using AI systems for tasks such as content generation, data analysis, or adaptive learning using the LLM APIs.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and derive actionable insights from it
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex English/Language Arts concepts to diverse stakeholders in a professional setting
