Performance Coach   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • In-person positions available in: Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Chicago, IL; Bethesda, MD; or New York City, NY (we provide relocation assistance)
  • Annual salary of $200,000, distributed weekly | Full health, dental, and vision benefits from day one

The most meaningful support you can offer a student who achieves 99% is to hold the line at 100%. Not out of indifference — but because you know they're capable of reaching it, and settling for less is the actual disservice. If that reasoning resonates, continue reading. If it feels overly strict, this position will likely cause frustration.

Students at Alpha don't passively absorb lectures. They advance through adaptive applications at double the speed of conventional classrooms while simultaneously developing practical life competencies. Your role ensures three commitments are fulfilled for every child in your group: genuine enthusiasm for school, accelerated learning at 2x speed, and acquisition of skills beyond any textbook. You'll also develop the Guides responsible for delivering these outcomes throughout your campus.

Each morning begins with performance data. Analytics from Coachbot reveal which students are progressing and which require intervention. By mid-morning you're facilitating a live life skills session with your K-8 group, implementing Alpha's established framework. Post-lunch involves observing a Guide's session, then providing them with three concrete actions to refine their execution. On certain days you're conducting motivation huddles, converting leaderboard rankings and campus currency into momentum that re-engages reluctant learners.

You'll witness reserved children presenting with confidence to adults. You'll observe a student who previously "hated school" requesting to remain after hours. And you'll recognize that the standard you maintained is precisely what enabled their success, because maintaining high expectations demonstrates your belief in their capacity to meet them.

If you've exceeded benchmarks, transformed underperformers into high achievers, and you're prepared to replicate that impact with children, submit your application now.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour live workshops on life skills and social-emotional learning (SEL) with K-8 students covering topics such as public speaking and concentration, utilizing Alpha's prescribed framework
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions designed to ensure 100% of students reach their weekly app-based objectives through developmentally appropriate incentives including campus currency and leaderboards
  • Developing Guides via observation, focused feedback, and direct skill-building to ensure they execute workshops with equivalent energy and accuracy
  • Analyzing Coachbot analytics and student data to determine which individuals require intervention, then executing that intervention directly
  • Personally mentoring your assigned cohort of students, demonstrating the coaching and motivational techniques you expect from all Guides

What you will NOT be doing

  • Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum. Students progress through adaptive applications; your responsibility is elevating the people surrounding them.
  • Delivering traditional classroom lectures. You're 80% performer, 20% content expert; if standing at a whiteboard appeals to you, this isn't the right fit.
  • Accepting "close enough" from students. Complete mastery is the standard, and compromising it isn't compassion.
  • Working from an office handling administrative tasks. The majority of your time involves direct interaction with students and Guides.
  • Waiting extended periods for performance evaluation. Results appear immediately in Coachbot and adjustments occur that same day.

Key responsibilities

Ensure Alpha's 3 Promises are realized throughout your cohort and among the Guides under your development: every child loves school, learns at 2x speed, and develops authentic life skills.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, or related area
  • Demonstrated experience creating and executing educational programs, curricula, or training initiatives
  • Proven history of managing a team of 5 or more individuals, including recruitment and performance-based termination decisions
