Description

  • Location: Dorado, Puerto Rico (on-site) | Compensation: $100,000/year | Full-time: 40 hours/week

If you're seeking a predictable classroom environment with lesson plans handed to you, this isn't the right fit. This position requires someone capable of managing a group of 10–15 young children with high energy, maintaining rigorous expectations, and enforcing clear standards. You'll be coaching behavior, concentration, and accountability in the moment, and you'll demand true mastery rather than rewarding mere attendance.

Alpha is an AI-powered private school founded on a straightforward principle: children can achieve core academic competencies more quickly through adaptive learning technology, freeing time to develop the life skills that genuinely shape their trajectory. Your role is to make this model effective for a K–3 cohort. As a Guide, you'll lead one cohort band—either K-1 (Kindergarten–1st) or 2-3 (2nd–3rd)—and adjust your approach, tempo, and workshop content to fit that band. You'll facilitate practical life skills workshops (including public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange) and advance daily learning outcomes within the apps by leveraging Coachbot analytics, defined benchmarks, and reliable motivation frameworks.

This is a high-accountability position. Success is measured clearly: 2x academic progress per semester, 90%+ student satisfaction, and students demonstrating life-skill competency through Test2Pass. If you're prepared to coach with intensity, accuracy, and resolve, we'd like to hear from you.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitate one-hour, experiential life skills workshops leveraging narrative techniques, pacing strategies, and hands-on practice to prepare students for Test2Pass
  • Leverage Coachbot analytics to identify obstacles early, establish daily and weekly benchmarks, and maintain progress momentum for every student in adaptive learning apps
  • Facilitate group check-ins that reinforce objectives, acknowledge achievements, and identify issues before they compromise targets
  • Deploy motivation systems (school currency, leaderboards, incentives) to produce measurable behavioral improvements in focus, persistence, and productivity
  • Step in immediately when students encounter difficulties or lose focus, coaching problem-solving skills and self-correction on the spot

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering traditional academic instruction or one-on-one tutoring as the main teaching method
  • Providing passive oversight of children using devices while assuming progress will occur independently
  • Adjusting weekly targets downward to improve reported outcomes
  • Conducting workshops where students appear engaged but fail to demonstrate competency afterward

Key responsibilities

This role ensures that a K–3 cohort reliably achieves 2x academic progress per semester while sustaining 90%+ student satisfaction and confirmed life-skill mastery.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Full fluency in English
  • At least intermediate Spanish proficiency for managing behavior, providing instructions, and engaging with families
  • 3+ years of experience working with children ages 4–9 in dynamic, high-engagement environments (classroom, camp, coaching, or afterschool programs)
  • Experience actively leading and engaging groups of 10–15+ young children (beyond supervision alone)
  • Exposure to structured goal-setting or progress tracking systems with children
  • Track record of receiving performance feedback and applying it
  • Willing to work in person in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • Legal authorization to work in Puerto Rico without sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience facilitating structured workshops that incorporate an assessment or performance verification
  • Experience utilizing data or learning analytics to advance student outcomes (e.g., app dashboards, progress reports)
  • Direct experience implementing incentive systems such as points, currency, badges, or leaderboards in a youth environment
