Youth Development Specialist   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • $150,000 annual compensation, distributed weekly

Imagine transforming play into a framework for trackable developmental progress.

Alpha's approach to education breaks from traditional structures. Our PreK program merges play-driven curriculum with live developmental tracking — no scripted lessons, no checkbox compliance systems. You will craft adaptive learning frameworks spanning all readiness domains, mentor a team of Guides to execute them with intention and energy, and monitor measurable milestone achievement across your entire cohort.

This role is rooted in direct engagement. Approximately one-third of your time will be classroom-based — demonstrating facilitation methods, observing live sessions, and conducting calibration debriefs. The remainder is devoted to curriculum creation, coaching Guides against specific performance benchmarks, and delivering evidence-driven family communications. The outcomes are tangible: four-year-olds reaching developmental markers ahead of schedule, Guides elevating their quality metrics weekly, and families becoming champions of the program.

Mentor the Guides. Shape the play. Submit your application.

What you will be doing

  • Conduct individual and small-group coaching with PreK Guides, demonstrating instructional methods and recognizing measurable progress
  • Create and lead play-based learning experiences that integrate SEL, literacy, numeracy, and motor development, exemplifying excellence for your team
  • Assess and calibrate Guide documentation on a weekly basis for rubric consistency and clarity, facilitating calibration meetings to maintain milestone visibility
  • Develop family communications and facilitate team alignment sessions that unify priorities and reinforce collective commitment to campus PreK readiness targets

What you will NOT be doing

  • Executing scripted lessons or compliance-focused procedures — you will build adaptive, play-centered themes informed by live developmental data
  • Delivering a predetermined curriculum from central administration — you control quarterly and weekly instructional design
  • Operating independently without structured feedback — coaching dialogues and calibration reviews are embedded in your weekly rhythm
  • Supporting K-12 learners on digital platforms — this position is exclusively focused on early childhood, hands-on, classroom-embedded practice

Key responsibilities

Advance campus-wide PreK readiness through Guide development, program integrity, and evidence-informed, joyful classroom environments.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, or related discipline; Master's degree or specialized certification preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in early childhood education, child development, or related domain
  • Direct experience facilitating learning for groups of children ages 3 to 5
  • Demonstrated success designing and executing play-based curricula or programs that drive developmental milestone achievement, such as Montessori
  • At least 1 year of experience coaching or supervising educators with measurable performance expectations
  • Track record of producing written progress reports for families and leading team coordination meetings in educational environments
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Commitment to in-person work at Alpha Austin campus; relocation support available if required

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of edtech systems, adaptive analytics tools, or digital observation platforms in early childhood contexts
  • Background in behavior guidance methods and co-regulation practices for children ages 3-5
