SVP of Facilities Management   $400,000 USD/year

Description

Your operational excellence comes from being the strongest operator in any setting. You understand how to maintain a well-run facility, address what needs fixing, and uphold standards with personal accountability. This position demands you construct something more complex.

You will oversee a VP team charged with maintaining 35+ premium campuses. Not through direct execution. Through system design, quality benchmark establishment, and development of the people who execute them. Your success metric isn't personal output — it's whether the team achieves green status across every campus without requiring your input.

The blueprint is yet to be created. You'll build AI-first dashboards that identify issues before VPs must search for them, frameworks that make quality standards enforceable without continuous supervision, and accountability structures enabling VPs to manage 7+ campuses each without losing detail. Success will be evident: escalations disappear, audits return clean results, and the team operates independently.

The trajectory is defined. Year one focuses on construction — dashboards, playbooks, vendor performance tracking systems, quality standards built from the ground up. After systems are operational and VPs function autonomously, the role evolves: portfolio-level CapEx strategy, succession planning for the team, and optimization decisions that elevate performance across all 35+ campuses simultaneously.

If you're prepared to lead the team maintaining premium standards across an expanding campus portfolio at scale, submit your application now.

What you will be doing

  • Overseeing, developing, and managing a VP team where each member owns sustain operations across 7+ campuses (standard) or 3+ campuses (large sites), with defined performance metrics and consistent coaching
  • Building AI-first operational infrastructure — predictive maintenance dashboards, vendor performance tracking systems, and portfolio-wide playbooks — that allow VPs to run their portfolios without escalating to you
  • Establishing measurable quality standards and SLAs across all facility metrics, then executing regular portfolio audits to enforce standards and address gaps before they impact students or staff
  • Executing portfolio-level resource allocation decisions: VP assignments, vendor strategy, and CapEx priorities in collaboration with business and finance stakeholders
  • Detecting and addressing VP performance challenges early through data-driven reviews and coaching, developing a team that achieves green status independently

What you will NOT be doing

  • Managing campus operations directly — your VPs execute the on-the-ground work; your responsibility is the systems and the team that produce results
  • Serving as the escalation point for every issue — properly designed systems and empowered VPs remove the "ask the SVP" bottlenecks that exhaust ops leaders at your level
  • Addressing problems one campus at a time — every framework, quality benchmark, and solution you create applies across all 35+ locations, not just the immediate one
  • Limiting your impact to a few sites — every system, standard, and accountability framework you establish here scales across 35+ campuses from the start
  • Building solutions from scratch repeatedly — after playbooks are established, VPs implement them; you refine based on portfolio-wide data, not individual site emergencies

Key responsibilities

Oversee a VP team to sustain consistent quality standards across a 35+ campus portfolio through scalable systems and rigorous performance management.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the United States, legally authorized to work without visa sponsorship
  • Willing and able to travel 35–50% to U.S. campuses for team management, audits, and strategic oversight
  • Experienced in facilities, operations, or multi-site management with at least 3+ years leading a team of managers or VPs
  • Proven track record of creating operational systems and frameworks that enabled a team to scale across 10+ locations
  • Experience establishing measurable quality standards and holding teams accountable through data-driven performance management
  • Hands-on experience utilizing AI and automation tools (such as GPT, Airtable, Retool, or Zapier) to create operational systems or manage team workflows
  • Experience managing CapEx budgets and making resource allocation decisions across a multi-site portfolio

Nice to have

  • Background in premium multi-site environments with uncompromising facility standards — luxury hospitality, UHNW residential management, flagship retail, or private K-12 education
  • Experience guiding a team through a build-to-operate transition: moving a portfolio from ad hoc practices to systematized, scalable processes
  • Prior role as regional director of operations, director of facilities, or similar, with accountability for both team performance and system design across 10+ locations
