Regional Operations Director   $200,000 USD/year

Description

You walk through a facility and immediately spot what others miss: the ceiling tile that's slightly out of place, the HVAC unit making an unusual sound for days, the landscaping contractor who completed only part of their scope yet submitted a full invoice. You don't wait for feedback from customers. You resolve issues before they become visible problems.

This awareness defines the role. 2 Hour Learning runs premium K–12 facilities where families invest in an environment that maintains safety, consistency, and presentation standards every single day—not just when tours are scheduled. You'll uphold these expectations throughout the Northwest region: anchored at the San Francisco Bay Area campus, with frequent site visits across CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, and ID. Your efforts determine whether a campus maintains its premium positioning or gradually deteriorates between leadership reviews.

Year one focuses heavily on establishing standards and vendor restructuring: defining operational readiness criteria, implementing audit protocols, transitioning underperforming service providers, and establishing repeatable operational rhythms for Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists. As regional expansion continues and your operational framework matures, the position evolves into ongoing regional oversight. You'll become the operations authority the organization relies on for new campus launches, crisis response, and standards refinement.

This position is field-based. If you prefer dashboard-based management, this opportunity isn't aligned with that approach. If you want direct accountability for maintaining premium standards across 25+ facilities and the authority to execute that mission, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Executing scheduled site inspections throughout Northwest campuses using documented criteria for cleanliness, HVAC systems, safety protocols, security measures, signage, landscaping, furnishings, and presentation readiness, then ensuring findings are resolved through verified corrective measures.
  • Managing facilities issues and emergency situations by coordinating vendor response and campus personnel, closing work orders only after confirming complete resolution (urgent matters within 24 hours, standard requests within 1 week).
  • Overseeing regional vendor compliance with service level agreements, transitioning consistently underperforming providers, adjusting contract scopes, and conducting direct accountability discussions regarding quality standards and cost efficiency.
  • Maintaining a structured weekly operations cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists, producing clear written documentation on regional quality metrics, vendor performance data, escalated issues, and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Overseeing significant campus improvement initiatives and establishing standardized global protocols and AI-powered procurement frameworks to ensure consistent campus deployment and operations.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Operating remotely through dashboards. This position demands consistent physical presence at the Bay Area facility and 30–50% travel time visiting regional locations throughout CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, and ID.
  • Leading new campus design efforts or managing ground-up construction projects. Capital development responsibilities belong to a separate function.
  • Establishing enterprise procurement policies disconnected from operational realities. Your standards emerge from direct facility experience.
  • Working within clean organizational structures with direct authority over all relevant personnel. You'll establish accountability through documentation clarity, systematic follow-through, and declining to accept ambiguous vendor commitments.
  • Tolerating "presentation-ready only during leadership visits" as acceptable, or allowing reactive crisis management to serve as the standard operational approach.

Key responsibilities

Maintain safety, premium standards, and presentation readiness across all Northwest region campuses every day.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the San Francisco Bay Area (strongly preferred), or alternatively within the Northwest region: CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, or ID, with readiness to work primarily from the Bay Area campus and travel regionally 30–50% of the time.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
  • 5+ years managing multi-site facilities operations, regional operations, hospitality operations, retail operations, or educational facility operations.
  • Documented success managing vendor-provided services for quality standards, cost control, and SLA performance across multiple sites.
  • Hands-on experience addressing urgent facility challenges (safety systems, HVAC, security infrastructure, cleanliness standards) with quantifiable impact on customer experience.
  • Established written operations discipline: issue tracking, escalation documentation, vendor correspondence, weekly regional performance summaries.
  • Verified experience with contemporary operations platforms (work order management systems, IoT/predictive maintenance solutions, AI-enhanced procurement or planning tools).

Nice to have

  • Regional operations leadership across premium hospitality brands, luxury retail environments, private K–12 institutions, or healthcare systems serving demanding clientele
  • Experience building or transforming regional operations frameworks that previously depended on individual heroics instead of documented standards
  • Proven history of vendor transitions and developing reliable regional service provider networks
  • Experience directing capital improvement initiatives (HVAC systems, AV/network infrastructure, landscaping projects, interior renovations) within active, customer-facing facilities
  • Background in AI-driven operational environments where automated systems, playbooks, and predictive tools handle routine tasks, allowing personnel to concentrate on decision-making
