Regional Facilities Director   $200,000 USD/year

Description

You tour a facility and immediately spot the problems: the ceiling panel that hasn't been secured, the HVAC unit making noise for days, the landscaping contractor who delivered half the scope but submitted a full invoice. You don't wait for complaints to arrive. You resolve issues before they become visible.

This awareness defines the position. 2 Hour Learning runs premium K–12 facilities where families invest in an environment that remains safe, reliable, and presentation-ready every day—not only when events are scheduled. You will uphold this expectation across the Northwest: anchored at the San Francisco Bay Area campus, with consistent travel to locations in CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, and ID. Your contributions determine whether a campus maintains its premium quality or deteriorates quietly between leadership reviews.

Year one focuses heavily on establishing standards and refining vendor relationships: defining operational readiness, implementing audit protocols, removing underperforming vendors, and guiding Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists toward a sustainable operational rhythm. As the region expands and your systems mature, the position evolves into ongoing regional leadership. You will become the operational authority the organization relies on during new campus launches, urgent situations, or when standards require revision.

This is a field-based position. If you prefer managing through data dashboards, this role is not suitable. If you seek direct accountability for maintaining premium standards across 25+ schools and the authority to execute that mission, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Performing scheduled on-site evaluations across Northwest locations using documented standards for cleanliness, HVAC systems, safety protocols, security measures, signage, landscaping, furniture condition, and tour-readiness, then converting observations into confirmed corrective measures.
  • Responding to facilities incidents and urgent situations, coordinating vendor resources and campus personnel, and resolving tickets only after verifying complete resolution (urgent issues within 24 hours, standard requests within 1 week).
  • Overseeing regional vendor delivery against service-level agreements, removing consistently underperforming vendors, renegotiating contracts, and conducting direct accountability discussions regarding quality and budget.
  • Establishing a weekly operational cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists, producing clear written reports covering regional quality metrics, vendor accountability, escalated issues, and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Overseeing significant campus improvement projects and developing enterprise-wide standards and AI-supported procurement frameworks to ensure operational consistency across all campuses.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Operating remotely through dashboards. This position demands regular on-site presence at the Bay Area campus plus 30–50% travel to regional facilities across CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, and ID.
  • Architecting new campus designs or managing ground-up construction projects. Capital expansion responsibilities belong to a separate function.
  • Developing enterprise procurement policy disconnected from field realities. Your standards emerge from direct site experience.
  • Working within established reporting structures with formal authority over all relevant personnel. You will create accountability through documentation, written follow-through, and refusal to accept ambiguous vendor commitments.
  • Tolerating "presentation-ready only during leadership visits" as acceptable, or accepting reactive crisis management as standard practice.

Key responsibilities

Maintain every Northwest region campus at safe, premium, and tour-ready standards daily.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the San Francisco Bay Area (strongly preferred), or within the Northwest region: CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, or ID, with willingness to work primarily from the Bay Area campus and travel regionally 30–50% of the time.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
  • 5+ years managing multi-location facilities, regional operations, hospitality operations, retail operations, or educational operations.
  • Demonstrated success holding third-party service providers accountable for quality standards, cost discipline, and service-level compliance across distributed locations.
  • Hands-on experience addressing urgent facilities challenges (safety systems, HVAC, security infrastructure, cleanliness standards) with documented customer experience outcomes.
  • Established written operational discipline: issue tracking, escalation documentation, vendor correspondence, weekly regional performance summaries.
  • Confirmed experience with contemporary operations platforms (ticketing systems, IoT/predictive maintenance tools, AI-enabled procurement or planning solutions).

Nice to have

  • Multi-location operational leadership in premium hospitality environments, luxury retail settings, private K–12 institutions, or healthcare systems serving demanding clientele
  • Experience building or rehabilitating regional operational frameworks where previous approaches depended on individual heroics rather than documented standards
  • Demonstrated success terminating underperforming vendor relationships and developing reliable local vendor networks
  • Experience directing capital improvement initiatives (HVAC systems, AV/networking infrastructure, landscaping upgrades, interior renovations) in active, customer-facing facilities
  • Background operating in AI-driven environments where automated playbooks, dashboards, and predictive tools handle routine tasks, allowing personnel to focus on strategic judgment
