Multi-Site Facilities Manager   $200,000 USD/year

Description

You step onto a site and immediately identify what's wrong — the unsealed ceiling tile that never made it into the log, the HVAC unit that's been making noise for days, the landscaping contractor who completed half the scope but submitted a full invoice. You don't wait for complaints to surface. You resolve issues before they become visible.

That awareness defines this role. 2 Hour Learning runs premium K–12 facilities where families expect an environment that is secure, reliable, and visitor-ready at all times — not solely during scheduled events. You will maintain that expectation across Central Texas: Austin serves as your home base, with consistent travel to campuses throughout the region. Your execution determines whether a site maintains its premium standard or deteriorates quietly between leadership reviews.

The initial year focuses on establishing standards and vendor accountability — defining what "ready" means, implementing audit protocols, removing underperforming vendors, and training Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to operate with consistency. As additional schools come online and your framework matures, the role transitions to sustained regional oversight: you become the expert the organization depends on when launching a new location, managing a crisis, or refining operational standards.

This is a field-based position. If you prefer to manage through dashboards, this role is not suitable. If you want direct responsibility for ensuring 25+ campuses deliver a premium experience daily — and the autonomy to enforce that standard — continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Performing scheduled on-site evaluations across Central Texas locations using documented benchmarks for cleanliness, HVAC performance, safety protocols, security measures, signage, landscaping, furniture condition, and visitor readiness — and converting observations into confirmed corrective action
  • Responding to facilities issues and urgent situations, coordinating contractor support, and closing work orders only after verifying resolution (critical items <24 hours, standard requests <1 week)
  • Overseeing local contractor compliance with service-level agreements, terminating vendors who consistently fail to meet standards, renegotiating contract terms, and conducting direct accountability discussions on quality and pricing
  • Establishing a weekly operational cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure uniform execution of standard routines across all campuses
  • Managing significant campus improvement projects (HVAC system updates, interior design refreshes, landscaping enhancements, AV/networking installations) within timeline and budget constraints while minimizing student disruption
  • Documenting enterprise-wide standards and AI-supported procurement frameworks (leveraging ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance systems, and centralized vendor sourcing) to ensure consistent campus openings and operations
  • Delivering clear, concise weekly written summaries covering regional quality metrics, vendor performance, escalated issues, and capital expenditure tracking

What you will NOT be doing

  • Operating remotely from a desk — this position demands regular on-site presence at the Austin campus and 20–40% travel across Central Texas locations
  • Leading ground-up campus design or overseeing new construction projects — capital development responsibilities reside with a separate function
  • Creating enterprise procurement policy without field validation — your standards derive from direct site observation
  • Receiving clearly defined reporting structures and direct authority over every individual whose performance affects your outcomes — you will establish accountability through documentation, written follow-through, and refusal to accept ambiguous vendor commitments
  • Treating "visitor-ready only during executive visits" as acceptable — recurring problems are investigated and resolved permanently, not simply re-logged
  • Spending most of your time in reactive crisis mode — the audit schedule and predictive maintenance systems are designed to surface issues before they generate complaints

Key responsibilities

Maintain every campus in the Central Texas region as safe, premium, and visitor-ready on a daily basis.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the Austin, TX metropolitan area or within commutable range, prepared to work primarily from the Austin campus with 20–40% travel across the region
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • 5+ years managing multi-site facilities, regional operations, hospitality operations, retail operations, or educational facility operations
  • Demonstrated success holding vendor-managed service providers accountable for quality standards, cost control, and service-level compliance across multiple sites
  • Hands-on experience addressing urgent facilities challenges (safety incidents, HVAC failures, security breaches, cleanliness issues) with documented customer experience outcomes
  • Consistent written communication discipline: issue tracking, escalation documentation, vendor correspondence, weekly regional performance summaries
  • Practical experience with contemporary operations platforms (ticketing systems, IoT/predictive maintenance tools, AI-enabled procurement or planning solutions)

Nice to have

  • Multi-site leadership experience in premium hospitality, luxury retail, private K–12 education, or healthcare systems serving demanding clientele
  • Background establishing or restructuring a regional operations framework where previous models depended on individual effort rather than standardized processes
  • Proven experience terminating underperforming vendors and developing an alternative local contractor network
  • History managing capital improvement initiatives (HVAC systems, AV/networking infrastructure, landscaping, interior upgrades) in active, customer-facing facilities
  • Exposure to AI-driven operating environments where automated playbooks, dashboards, and predictive tools handle routine tasks so personnel can concentrate on strategic decisions
