Description

If you've ever managed the launch of a school, hospital, or retail site and realized the permitting process could move faster and more efficiently, this opportunity is for you.

2 Hour Learning is scaling the fastest school model in the nation. New school launches depend entirely on regulatory approval. Licenses, permits, and filings must be executed flawlessly and without delay. Your role will be to identify requirements, coordinate submissions in proper sequence, and ensure timely approvals. You will leverage AI tools and automation platforms while also engaging directly—calling stakeholders, coordinating contractors, and resolving edge cases that automation alone cannot address.

This position suits someone who excels under complexity and time pressure. You will operate within a fast-moving organization backed by significant resources, where velocity is standard and quality is mandatory. You will apply AI-driven methods to streamline bureaucracy, accelerate permitting cycles, and deliver results—not reports.

If you are prepared to be the person who transforms "pending approval" into "cleared for launch," this role is yours to claim.

What you will be doing

  • Collaborating with architects, contractors, and legal counsel to obtain all necessary construction and operational permits for education facilities.
  • Managing municipal permitting and inspection workflows across multiple jurisdictions — shortening timelines and removing obstacles.
  • Assembling and filing comprehensive approval packages: permits, applications, regulatory documentation, and inspection records.
  • Tracking project progress and compliance exposure across all initiatives — ensuring full transparency and no unexpected setbacks.
  • Traveling to project sites (~75% of time) to engage directly with local government officials, inspectors, and service providers to maintain momentum.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Waiting for others to flag problems or finalize submissions — you will own every outcome from start to finish.
  • Operating primarily from an office — this is a field-based execution role, not an administrative position.
  • Applying a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach by jurisdiction — you will design solutions in real time where standards do not exist.
  • Treating delays as acceptable — both speed and accuracy define this position.
  • Using outdated tools or manual systems — automation and continuous improvement are expectations.

Key responsibilities

Obtain complete legal and operational authorization to launch schools across jurisdictions more rapidly and comprehensively than conventional permitting workflows permit.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the U.S. with authorization to work without requiring visa sponsorship.
  • Able and willing to travel approximately 75% of the time to U.S. cities and states.
  • 5+ years leading permitting, construction, or facilities expansion initiatives involving physical infrastructure and regulatory clearance.
  • 5+ years coordinating multiple contractors per project across different jurisdictions.
  • Documented history of delivering projects ahead of deadline while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
  • Experience delivering progress briefings to technical teams and executive leadership.
  • Proven ownership mindset — you served as the sole accountable point of contact for project execution and problem resolution.
  • AI-native approach — you instinctively adopt automation and iterative methods to accelerate delivery.
  • Written communication that is precise, actionable, and relied upon by senior leadership.
  • Strong regulatory discernment — you understand when to escalate, seek clarification, or challenge requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience in construction management, education operations, or multi-location retail rollout.
  • Background developing or refining AI-driven tools for permitting, compliance, or regulatory processes.
  • Prior engagement with fire marshals, building inspectors, and education regulatory bodies.
