Vice President Multi-Site Operations   $200,000 USD/year

Description

You step into a facility and immediately notice what's wrong — the ceiling tile hanging loose without a work order, the HVAC return producing a high-pitched noise for days, the landscaping contractor who completed only part of the scope but submitted a full invoice. You don't wait for complaints to surface. You resolve issues before they become visible to anyone else.

That awareness defines this position. 2 Hour Learning runs premium K–12 campuses where families expect an environment that is secure, reliable, and visitor-ready every single day — not merely during scheduled events. You will maintain that expectation across the Northeast region: Manhattan serving as your home base, with consistent travel to facilities in CT, MA, and PA. Your performance determines whether a campus maintains its premium standard or quietly deteriorates between leadership reviews.

Year one emphasizes establishing standards and vendor oversight — defining operational readiness, implementing audit protocols, terminating underperforming vendors, and guiding Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists into sustainable operating routines. As the region expands and your systems mature, the position transitions to ongoing regional oversight: you become the operational authority the network relies on during new campus launches, emergency situations, or standard revisions.

This is a field-based position. If you prefer dashboard-based management, this role is not suitable. If you want direct accountability for whether 25+ campuses maintain premium standards daily — and the authority to enforce that outcome — continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Executing scheduled on-site inspections across Northeast facilities against documented benchmarks for cleanliness, HVAC performance, safety protocols, security measures, signage quality, landscaping maintenance, furniture condition, and visitor readiness — then converting audit findings into confirmed corrective actions
  • Responding to facilities issues and urgent situations, coordinating service providers, and closing work orders only after verifying resolution (urgent issues <24 hours, standard requests <1 week)
  • Overseeing regional vendor compliance with service-level agreements, terminating consistently underperforming contractors, renegotiating service scopes, and conducting direct accountability discussions regarding quality and cost control
  • Establishing a weekly operational cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure uniform campus operations through standardized routines rather than individual heroics
  • Overseeing significant campus improvement projects (HVAC system updates, interior design refreshes, landscaping improvements, AV/networking upgrades) while maintaining schedule and budget discipline with minimal student impact
  • Developing enterprise standards and AI-powered procurement frameworks (leveraging ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance systems, and centralized procurement tools) to ensure consistent campus launch and operation protocols
  • Delivering concise weekly written updates on regional facility quality, vendor compliance, escalated issues, and capital expenditure variance tracking

What you will NOT be doing

  • Operating remotely from dashboards — this position demands consistent physical presence at Manhattan headquarters and 20–40% travel time to regional campuses (CT, MA, PA)
  • Leading greenfield campus design or managing ground-up construction projects — capital expansion responsibility resides with a separate team
  • Establishing company-wide procurement policies disconnected from field operations — your standards emerge from direct site assessments
  • Working within clean organizational hierarchies with formal authority over all personnel affecting your outcomes — you will establish accountability through documentation clarity, written follow-through, and rejection of ambiguous vendor commitments
  • Tolerating "visitor-ready only during leadership tours" as acceptable practice — recurring problems receive root cause analysis, not repeated ticketing
  • Defaulting to reactive crisis management — the audit schedule and predictive maintenance tools exist to identify failures before they generate complaints

Key responsibilities

Maintain every Northeast region campus as safe, premium, and visitor-ready on a daily basis.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in New York City or within commuting range, prepared to work primarily from the Manhattan campus with 20–40% regional travel requirements
  • Authorized to work legally in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • 5+ years managing multi-site facilities operations, regional operations management, hospitality operations, retail operations, or educational facility operations
  • Documented success maintaining vendor-managed service accountability for quality standards, cost management, and SLA performance across multiple sites
  • Hands-on experience addressing urgent facilities challenges (safety incidents, HVAC failures, security breaches, cleanliness standards) with measurable customer experience outcomes
  • Consistent written operational discipline: issue tracking logs, escalation documentation, vendor correspondence, weekly regional performance reporting
  • Demonstrated proficiency with contemporary operations platforms (ticketing systems, IoT/predictive maintenance tools, AI-enhanced procurement or operational planning)

Nice to have

  • Regional operations leadership experience in premium hospitality brands, luxury retail chains, private K–12 education, or healthcare systems serving demanding clientele
  • Background establishing or rehabilitating regional operational frameworks that previously depended on individual heroics instead of documented standards
  • Proven experience terminating underperforming service providers and rebuilding regional vendor networks
  • Experience directing capital improvement initiatives (HVAC systems, AV/networking infrastructure, landscaping projects, interior renovations) in active, customer-facing facilities
  • Familiarity operating in AI-first environments where automated playbooks, real-time dashboards, and predictive analytics handle routine tasks while staff concentrate on decision-making
