Regional Facilities Director   $200,000 USD/year

Description

You enter a campus and immediately spot the problems — the unsecured ceiling panel never reported, the HVAC unit making noise for days, the landscaping contractor who delivered half the work but submitted a complete invoice. You don't wait for escalation from parents. You fix it before anyone realizes there was an issue.

That awareness defines this position. 2 Hour Learning runs high-quality K–12 facilities where families expect an environment that is secure, reliable, and guest-ready at all times — not only during scheduled events. You will be accountable for maintaining that level across the Northwest: anchored at the San Francisco Bay Area campus, with consistent travel to locations in CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, and ID. Your responsibility is ensuring every campus remains premium rather than slowly deteriorating between leadership visits.

Your first year will focus heavily on establishing protocols and cleaning up vendor relationships — defining what "ready" means operationally, building the inspection rhythm, removing underperforming contractors, and training Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to follow a consistent operational routine. As more schools come online and your systems mature, the role evolves into sustained regional oversight: you become the operational expert the organization relies on during new openings, crisis response, or standard revisions.

This is a hands-on field position. If you prefer to lead through reports and dashboards, this role is not suitable. If you want direct accountability for keeping 25+ campuses premium every day — with the authority to deliver results — continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Performing scheduled site inspections across Northwest facilities against established criteria for cleanliness, HVAC function, safety protocols, security systems, signage, landscaping, furniture condition, and guest readiness — and ensuring findings result in verified corrective action
  • Responding to facility incidents and urgent issues, coordinating contractor response, and closing work orders only after personally confirming resolution (urgent within 24 hours, standard within 1 week)
  • Overseeing regional contractor performance against service agreements, terminating relationships with vendors who repeatedly fail, renegotiating contracts, and conducting direct accountability discussions around quality and budget
  • Establishing a weekly operational cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure consistent execution of routines across all campuses, eliminating reliance on ad hoc problem-solving
  • Executing significant campus improvement projects (HVAC system updates, interior design refreshes, landscaping overhauls, AV and network infrastructure) on time and within budget, while maintaining normal school operations
  • Documenting organizational standards and AI-powered procurement protocols (leveraging ticketing platforms, IoT and predictive maintenance tools, and centralized vendor sourcing) to ensure uniformity as new campuses launch and existing ones operate
  • Delivering concise weekly written updates on regional facility quality, contractor performance, escalated issues, and capital expenditure tracking

What you will NOT be doing

  • Operating remotely via dashboards — this position demands frequent on-site presence at the Bay Area anchor campus and 30–50% travel throughout the regional portfolio in CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, and ID
  • Leading new campus design or ground-up construction projects — capital development and expansion are owned by a separate function
  • Developing enterprise procurement policies without field validation — your standards emerge from direct campus observation and operational experience
  • Receiving clean organizational charts with formal authority over everyone whose performance affects your outcomes — you will enforce accountability through documentation, written follow-through, and refusal to accept ambiguous vendor commitments
  • Treating "guest-ready only before executive visits" as acceptable — recurring problems will be diagnosed at root cause, not simply re-reported
  • Spending most of your time in reactive crisis mode — the inspection schedule and predictive maintenance systems are designed to surface failures before they generate complaints

Key responsibilities

Maintain every campus across the Northwest region in a safe, premium, and guest-ready condition daily.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the San Francisco Bay Area (strongly preferred) — or another Northwest location: CA, WA, NV, UT, OR, or ID — able to work primarily from the Bay Area campus with 30–50% travel across the region
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • 5+ years of experience managing multi-site facilities, regional operations, hospitality operations, retail operations, or school operations
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce accountability with vendor-managed services on quality, cost, and service level agreement performance across multiple sites
  • Hands-on experience resolving critical facility issues (safety, HVAC, security, cleanliness) with measurable impact on customer experience
  • Consistent written operational discipline: issue tracking, escalation documentation, vendor correspondence, weekly regional performance reports
  • Proven use of contemporary operations tools (ticketing systems, IoT and predictive maintenance platforms, AI-supported procurement or planning)

Nice to have

  • Leadership experience in multi-site premium hospitality, luxury retail, private K–12 education, or healthcare organizations serving discerning clientele
  • Background building or overhauling a regional operations framework where the previous model depended on individual heroics instead of documented standards
  • History of terminating underperforming vendors and rebuilding a reliable regional contractor network
  • Experience delivering capital improvement projects (HVAC systems, AV and network infrastructure, landscaping, interior upgrades) in active, customer-facing facilities
  • Familiarity with AI-driven operational environments where automated playbooks, dashboards, and predictive tools handle routine tasks so staff concentrate on decision-making
