Head of Academic Innovation   $400,000 USD/year

Description

You've articulated a compelling academic vision and taken full ownership of its execution. You've led visibly and decisively, not from the periphery. When it comes to the science of learning, you're not experimenting—you've built tangible systems, delivered measurable results, and earned the credibility to speak authoritatively on the subject. If this describes you, 2 Hour Learning is seeking its academic leader and strategic anchor.

2 Hour Learning has developed a model in which students achieve double the learning velocity in just two hours per day. This performance is made possible through AI-driven tutoring, mastery-oriented progression, and a fundamental reimagining of traditional classroom design. The outcomes speak for themselves. We now need a leader capable of aligning execution across varied school environments, elevating academic leadership standards, and serving as the public advocate for a movement rooted in evidence-based learning science.

This is not a position focused on theoretical inquiry. It is a leadership imperative. You will be accountable for academic strategy in action, establishing rigorous standards, surfacing execution shortfalls, and coaching elite teams toward measurable impact. You will transform our scientific underpinnings into operational excellence and champion this model on the global stage.

What you will be doing

  • Designing academic frameworks that convert learning science into actionable direction for curriculum development, motivational architecture, and application design.
  • Facilitating academic execution reviews with Heads of Academics to ensure alignment, accountability, and consistent delivery across school teams.
  • Integrating data analysis, stakeholder interviews, and direct observation into comprehensive academic ecosystem assessments that identify high-impact barriers to accelerated learning and recommend targeted interventions.
  • Ensuring strategic coherence through structured planning, continuous feedback mechanisms, and milestone oversight to sustain focus on student learning objectives.
  • Serving as the principal representative of 2 Hour Learning in high-profile settings—from keynote presentations to engagements with Ministries of Education—advancing systemic transformation in educational thinking worldwide.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Engaging in fragmented curriculum initiatives that fail to produce systemic impact.
  • Producing theoretical research disconnected from measurable student outcomes or operational execution.
  • Transferring accountability for performance to mid-level managers or external consultants.
  • Depending on institutional reputation or untested theory to convince skeptical audiences.

Key responsibilities

Expand and strengthen 2 Hour Learning's validated academic model by harmonizing execution across multiple school sites, raising leadership performance standards, and establishing yourself as the authoritative voice of a movement founded on rigorous scientific principles and demonstrated impact.

Candidate requirements

  • Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D) in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field
  • At least 7 years in academic or EdTech leadership roles, leading a team of staff/employees (not an informal peer leader role, such as grade-level lead); you must have been responsible for hiring, monitoring performance, coaching, and making termination decisions
  • Experience driving learning outcomes for students and upholding student performance standards
  • Experience applying AI or emerging technologies to improve education, such as through personalized learning, adaptive learning, AI agents, etc.
  • Experience managing academic teams of 50+ people (e.g., the teams you managed directly executed curriculum, instruction, or assessment)
  • Experience interacting directly with students, teachers, or school leaders in a professional setting
