Lead Coach   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site at an Alpha campus: Dallas, TX · Oklahoma City, OK · Austin, TX · Keller (Fort Worth), TX · The Woodlands (Houston), TX
  • $150,000/year W2 salary, paid weekly. Day-one health benefits.
  • Relocation support available

Telling a student who scored 99% that they didn't pass may be the most supportive thing you can do.

Not because perfection is the goal. Because believing in someone's capacity to improve is a profound act of respect.

Alpha does not shield students from failure. We prepare them for success. Confidence is not built by lowering standards. It is built by guiding students to accomplish what they believed was beyond their reach. That principle drives everything we do.

Our approach is intentionally distinct. Students achieve academic mastery independently through AI-powered learning, which allows adults to concentrate on what truly transforms lives: coaching character, cultivating resilience, nurturing leadership, and instilling habits that produce remarkable outcomes. We do not require adults to deliver academic content. We require leaders who understand how to unlock potential in others.

This position is central to that purpose. You will develop the Guides who engage directly with students, shaping them into outstanding coaches rather than traditional instructors. You will facilitate life skills workshops that leave lasting impressions on students. You will analyze performance data to pinpoint where students or Guides are underperforming and coach them toward excellence. You will also manage your own student cohort, demonstrating the standards you hold others to.

The impact is substantial. Each Guide you coach affects dozens of students. Every enhancement you make to campus culture multiplies across hundreds of young lives. Success is not defined by meeting attendance or report volume. It is defined by whether students grow more confident, disciplined, resilient, and capable because of the culture you helped create.

This role is not for someone seeking to maintain the existing education system. It is for someone who believes young people deserve more than compliance, seat time, and mediocre expectations. If you find energy in coaching others through challenges, leveraging data to inform decisions, and maintaining high standards rooted in genuine belief in others' capabilities, you will excel here.

Apply if you are prepared to create a culture where excellence is the norm, coaching transforms lives, and students realize they are capable of far more than they thought possible.

What you will be doing

  • Develop and coach Guides to execute Alpha's coaching model with consistency, passion, and rigorous standards.
  • Facilitate dynamic life skills workshops on communication, focus, feedback, leadership, and resilience for K-8 students using established playbooks.
  • Analyze student and Guide performance data to uncover coaching opportunities, eliminate obstacles, and produce measurable progress each week.
  • Conduct motivation sessions that empower every student to embrace ambitious goals and consistently reach them.
  • Oversee your own student cohort while exemplifying the coaching quality and accountability you demand from all Guides.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing academic subjects. Students complete core academics independently using AI-powered learning applications.
  • Developing lesson plans or designing curriculum. Your role is exceptional coaching, not producing instructional content.
  • Controlling classrooms through lectures, worksheets, or behavior management systems. Students direct their own learning, and you coach the habits that enable success.
  • Reducing expectations to sidestep challenging conversations. High standards and authentic belief in every student's capacity are inseparable.
  • Defining success by activity rather than outcomes. Results take precedence over effort alone.

Key responsibilities

Cultivate a coaching culture in which exceptional Guides reliably develop students who love school, achieve academic mastery at an accelerated rate, and gain the resilience, leadership, and life skills necessary to thrive far beyond the classroom.

Candidate requirements

  • Willing to work on campus in Dallas, TX; Oklahoma City, OK; Austin, TX; Keller (Fort Worth), TX; or The Woodlands (Houston), TX (relocation support provided).
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
5+ years of experience leading adults in education, learning and development, youth leadership, coaching, or a comparable performance-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing a team of five or more people, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and difficult accountability conversations.
  • Experience working directly with children ages 5-14 in an educational, developmental, athletic, or youth leadership setting.
  • Track record of building, launching, scaling, or significantly improving a program, team, school, business, or initiative.
  • Proven ability to use performance metrics and data to diagnose problems, prioritize actions, and deliver measurable results.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Experience coaching athletics, leading outdoor or experiential education, directing camps, youth programs, or other cohort-based organizations.
  • Experience building or leading innovative education, EdTech, tutoring, nonprofit, or learning programs outside traditional classroom teaching.
  • Personal history of exceptional achievement in academics, athletics, entrepreneurship, or leadership.
  • Strong conviction that education should develop capable, resilient, independent young people rather than simply deliver academic content.
