Alpha is opening a flagship campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who already knows Houston's education landscape. You'll oversee 15 plus Guides who coach and inspire students, while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No "teaching". All action. Pure leadership.
Your objective: guarantee that every student loves school, learns at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You'll uphold rigorous standards, leverage data to make decisions, and build Houston's top school from the ground up.

What you will be doing
- Launch Alpha's flagship Houston location: Execute Alpha's three commitments to 100 plus students from day one, maintaining operational excellence in every area.
- Facilitate live workshops with K through 12 students on life skills: Lead compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, giving and receiving feedback. Apply Alpha's proven playbook so students acquire skills traditional schools overlook, while keeping it engaging.
- Drive every student toward 100 percent goal completion: Develop personalized motivational strategies for each student. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their objectives.
- Develop Guides through effective coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to pinpoint performance deficiencies. Provide direct, actionable guidance during coaching conversations and monitor progress. Hold your team accountable through logic and objectivity, rather than empathy that dilutes standards.
- Execute data-informed campus leadership decisions: Evaluate performance across staff, operations, parent engagement, and school culture. Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and implement trackable improvements. Document every decision and refine based on outcomes.
- Uphold excellence without exception: Define and maintain Alpha's quality standards for both students and staff. Make difficult decisions when performance doesn't meet expectations. Model the standard on your campus through your own example.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
- Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
- Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
- Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
- Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
- Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
- Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
- Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
- Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
