Alpha is opening a flagship campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who already knows Houston's education landscape. You will manage 15 plus Guides who mentor and motivate students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No "teaching". All action. Pure leadership.
Your objective: guarantee that every student enjoys school, progresses at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will maintain uncompromising standards, make decisions based on data, and establish Houston's top school from the start.

What you will be doing
- Launch Alpha's flagship Houston campus: Execute Alpha's three promises for 100 plus students from day one with operational excellence in every area.
- Facilitate live workshops with K through 12 students on life skills: Conduct compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, giving and receiving feedback. Apply Alpha's playbook to ensure students develop skills that traditional schools overlook while staying engaged and enjoying the process.
- Drive every student to 100 percent goal achievement: Develop individualized motivational models for each student. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and maintain student engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined as every student reaching their objectives.
- Develop Guides through coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to pinpoint performance shortfalls. Provide clear, actionable feedback during coaching sessions and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability through logic and objectivity, not empathy that lowers standards.
- Lead campus through data-driven decision-making: Evaluate performance across staff, operations, parent communication, and culture. Identify problems, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, implement measurable solutions. Monitor every decision and refine based on outcomes.
- Uphold excellence without exception: Establish and sustain Alpha's quality standards for students and staff. Make difficult decisions when performance is inadequate. Model the standard of excellence for your campus.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
- Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
- Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
- Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
- Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
- Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
- Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
- Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
- Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
