School Leader   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • Springfield, MA
  • $200,000 annual salary
  • Day-one health benefits

Are you frustrated by a system that prevents Springfield students from meeting the standards they deserve?

Alpha is opening a new campus in this city and requires a leader who already knows the local educational landscape. You will oversee 15+ Guides who mentor and motivate students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional "teaching." High-impact action. Pure leadership.

Your objective: guarantee every student enjoys school, learns at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a standard Principal position. You will maintain rigorous standards, make decisions based on data, and establish Springfield's premier school from launch.

Lead with data. Coach for excellence. Apply now.

What you will be doing

  • Launch our Springfield, MA campus: Execute Alpha's three promises for 100+ students from day one with operational excellence across all functions.
  • Facilitate live workshops teaching life skills to K-8 students: Conduct compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback skills. Follow Alpha's established playbook to ensure students develop competencies traditional schools overlook while remaining engaged and enjoying the process.
  • Drive every student to reach 100% of their goals: Create individualized motivational strategies for each student. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and maintain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is measured by every student achieving their targets.
  • Develop Guides to meet excellence standards and uphold Alpha's quality benchmark: Leverage data to detect performance gaps, provide concrete feedback, and monitor progress. Make difficult decisions when performance does not meet expectations and model the standard for your campus.
  • Execute data-driven campus leadership decisions: Evaluate performance across personnel, operations, parent engagement, and campus culture. Identify problems, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and implement measurable solutions. Monitor every decision and refine based on outcomes.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teaching or tutoring students. Students progress through Alpha's self-directed EdTech platform, not through passive lectures delivered by adults.
  • Creating lesson plans or curriculum. Alpha's playbook already exists. Your responsibility is execution and leadership, not instructional design.
  • Overseeing budgets or recruiting staff. Central teams manage finance and hiring. Your focus remains entirely on campus performance and culture.
  • Serving as the subject-matter expert. This position is 80% leader and entertainer, 20% educator. You motivate, the platform teaches.

Key responsibilities

Fulfill Alpha's three promises: every student loves school, learns twice as fast, and masters life skills — at a brand-new Springfield campus starting from day one.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field.

  • In-depth understanding of the Springfield, MA education landscape.
  • Experience working with youth ages 5 - 14.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and proven experience using metrics to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to transforming education. Conviction that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
  • Startup mentality: performs well under pressure, adapts quickly to new situations, comfortable creating systems from the ground up.
  • Dynamic and engaging speaker who captures attention from large groups of students or staff.
  • Capable of connecting with K-8 students, understanding their interests and culture, and acting as a positive role model.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
