Head of School   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • Houston. 200,000 dollar annual compensation, distributed weekly
  • Comprehensive health coverage starting day one, plus HSA and FSA options

Are you tired of watching Houston's students suffer under a system that prevents you from upholding the standards they need?

Alpha is opening its flagship Houston campus and requires a leader who already knows this city's educational landscape. You will oversee a team of 15 plus Guides who mentor and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all core instruction. No traditional "teaching." High-impact execution. Pure leadership.

Your objective: guarantee that every student enjoys school, progresses at double the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life competencies. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will maintain rigorous standards, leverage data to drive outcomes, and establish Houston's premier school from the outset.

Lead through metrics. Coach toward mastery. Apply today.

What you will be doing

  • Establish Alpha's flagship Houston campus: Execute Alpha's three core commitments for 100 plus students from day one, maintaining operational excellence in every area.
  • Facilitate live life skills workshops with K through 12 students: Lead dynamic one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Apply Alpha's proven framework to help students develop critical skills overlooked by traditional schools while keeping sessions enjoyable.
  • Drive every student toward 100 percent goal achievement: Create personalized motivational strategies for each individual student. Apply data-informed methods to address obstacles and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Your success metric is simple: every student achieves their goals.
  • Develop Guides through targeted coaching: Leverage both quantitative metrics and qualitative observations to pinpoint performance challenges. Provide precise, implementable guidance during coaching conversations and monitor progress. Maintain accountability through objective analysis and logical standards, not empathy that lowers expectations.
  • Lead campus operations through data analysis: Review performance indicators across team members, operational systems, family engagement, and school culture. Identify issues, perform root cause investigations, engage relevant stakeholders, and execute measurable interventions. Document each decision and refine approaches based on outcomes.
  • Uphold uncompromising excellence standards: Establish and sustain Alpha's quality benchmarks for both students and staff. Execute difficult decisions when performance does not meet expectations. Model the standard of excellence expected across your campus.

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
  • Proven track record building and managing teams of at least 15 people with complete hiring and firing authority
  • Extensive knowledge of Houston or broader Texas education landscape. This understanding of local student populations, community context, and competitive school environment is critical for Alpha's Houston launch.
  • Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
  • Robust data analysis capabilities and demonstrated experience applying metrics to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement
  • Commitment to transforming education. Conviction that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
  • Startup mentality: performs well under pressure, flexible in evolving environments, confident creating structures from the ground up
  • Dynamic and engaging communicator who captivates audiences of students or staff
  • Capable of connecting with K through 12 students, understanding their world and interests, and serving as an exemplary role model
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
