Description

Are you frustrated by a system that prevents Springfield students from meeting the standards they need and deserve?

Alpha is opening a new campus in the city, and we are looking for a leader with firsthand knowledge of Springfield's educational landscape. You will oversee 15+ Guides who motivate and coach students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional teaching. Complete focus on leadership and execution.

Your objective: guarantee that every student loves school, learns at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will uphold rigorous standards, rely on data to inform decisions, and establish Springfield's highest-performing school from the outset.

Lead through data. Coach toward excellence. Apply today.

What you will be doing

  • Launch our Springfield, MA campus: Execute Alpha's three promises for 100+ students from the first day with operational excellence in every dimension.
  • Facilitate live workshops teaching K-8 students life skills: Lead one-hour sessions focused on public speaking, growth mindset, and giving and receiving feedback. Follow Alpha's established playbook to ensure students acquire skills that traditional schools overlook, all while keeping it engaging and fun.
  • Drive every student to achieve 100% of their goals: Develop personalized motivational strategies for each student. Apply data-driven methods to eliminate resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their targets.
  • Coach Guides toward excellence and uphold Alpha's quality standards: Leverage data to pinpoint performance gaps, provide clear and actionable feedback, and monitor progress. Make difficult decisions when performance does not meet expectations, and model the standard for the entire campus.
  • Lead the campus through data-driven decision-making: Evaluate performance across staff, operations, parent engagement, and culture. Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, consult with stakeholders, and implement measurable interventions. Monitor every decision and refine based on outcomes.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teaching or tutoring students. Students learn via Alpha's self-directed EdTech platform, not through passive instruction from adults.
  • Creating lesson plans or curriculum. Alpha's playbook is already built. Your role is execution and leadership, not instructional design.
  • Overseeing budgets or recruiting staff. Central operations manage finance and hiring. Your focus remains entirely on campus performance and culture.
  • Serving as the subject-matter expert. This role is 80% leader and entertainer, 20% educator. You motivate; the platform teaches.

Key responsibilities

Execute Alpha's three promises: every student loves school, learns at twice the speed, and masters life skills — at a brand-new Springfield campus starting on day one.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field.
  • Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority.
  • Deep knowledge of the Springfield, MA education landscape.
  • Experience working with youth ages 5 - 14.
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
  • Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch.
  • Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff.
  • Able to relate to K-8 students, understand their interests and culture, and serve as a positive role model.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
