School Director   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • Springfield, MA
  • $200,000 annual salary
  • Day-one health benefits

Are you tired of seeing Springfield's students limited by a system that prevents you from upholding the standards they need?

Alpha is opening a new campus in the area, and we're looking for a leader who already knows the educational challenges facing this city. You will oversee 15+ Guides who motivate and support students while our EdTech platform delivers all academic instruction. No traditional "teaching." Extensive action. Pure leadership.

Your objective: guarantee that every student enjoys school, learns at double the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a typical Principal position. You will maintain rigorous standards, make decisions grounded in data, and establish Springfield's top-performing school from the start.

Lead through data. Coach toward excellence. Apply now.

What you will be doing

  • Open and operate our Springfield, MA campus: Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100+ students from the first day with operational precision in every area.
  • Facilitate live skill-building workshops with K-8 students: Lead one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback techniques. Apply Alpha's established playbook to ensure students develop skills that traditional schools overlook, all while keeping the experience engaging.
  • Drive every student to reach 100% of their learning goals: Create customized motivational strategies for individual students. Apply data-backed methods to address disengagement and sustain student involvement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student meeting their objectives.
  • Develop Guides through coaching and uphold Alpha's performance standards: Leverage data to pinpoint gaps in performance, provide clear feedback, and monitor progress. Make difficult decisions when standards aren't met and model the excellence expected across your campus.
  • Lead the campus using data-informed decision-making: Evaluate performance in staffing, operations, parent engagement, and campus culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analysis, engage relevant stakeholders, and execute measurable improvements. Monitor outcomes for every decision and refine strategies accordingly.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teaching or tutoring students. Students engage with Alpha's self-paced EdTech platform, not traditional lectures delivered by adults.
  • Creating lesson plans or curriculum content. Alpha's approach is already designed. Your responsibility is execution and leadership, not creating instructional materials.
  • Overseeing budgets or recruitment. Centralized teams manage financial operations and hiring. Your focus remains entirely on campus culture and performance.
  • Serving as the content expert. This position is 80% leadership and engagement, 20% educational guidance. You motivate, the platform teaches.

Key responsibilities

Execute Alpha's three commitments: every student enjoys school, learns at twice the speed, and builds life skills — at a newly launched Springfield campus starting on day one.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field.
  • Proven track record building and leading teams of at least 15 people with complete hiring and firing responsibility.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Springfield, MA education environment.
  • Experience working with youth ages 5 - 14.
  • Solid data analysis capabilities and demonstrated use of metrics to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to transforming education. Conviction that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
  • Startup orientation: performs well under pressure, adaptable to new environments, confident building processes from the ground up.
  • Dynamic and engaging communicator who captures the attention of students and staff alike.
  • Capable of connecting with K-8 students, understanding their world and interests, and acting as a positive role model.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
