School Director   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • Houston. 200,000 dollar salary, paid weekly
  • Day-one health benefits, HSA, FSA

Are you frustrated by a system that prevents you from upholding the academic standards Houston students need to succeed?

Alpha is opening a flagship campus in the city, and we're looking for a leader who knows Houston's education landscape inside and out. You'll oversee a team of 15 plus Guides who mentor and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional teaching duties. All execution. Full leadership.

Your objective: make sure every student enjoys learning, progresses at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This isn't a standard Principal position. You'll maintain rigorous standards, leverage data to guide decisions, and establish Houston's premier school from the ground up.

Lead through metrics. Coach toward mastery. Apply today.

What you will be doing

  • Launch Alpha's flagship Houston campus: Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100 plus students from day one with operational precision across all functions.
  • Facilitate live life skills workshops with K through 12 students: Lead compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback techniques. Apply Alpha's proven framework to help students develop competencies that traditional schools overlook while keeping sessions dynamic.
  • Drive every student to 100 percent goal achievement: Develop customized motivational strategies for individual learners. Apply data-informed methods to address resistance and sustain student engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is measured by every student reaching their objectives.
  • Develop Guides through targeted coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint performance deficiencies. Provide specific, actionable guidance during coaching conversations and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability through logical, objective standards rather than empathy that undermines excellence.
  • Lead campus operations with data-driven decision-making: Evaluate performance across team members, operational systems, parent engagement, and campus culture. Identify challenges, execute root cause analysis, engage key stakeholders, and deploy measurable interventions. Monitor outcomes for every decision and refine strategies accordingly.
  • Uphold uncompromising standards of excellence: Establish and sustain Alpha's performance expectations for both students and staff. Execute difficult decisions when results fall below benchmarks. Model exemplary leadership as the quality standard for your campus.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
  • Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
  • Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
  • Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
  • Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
  • Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
  • Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
