Director of Admissions   $200,000 USD/year

Description

This enrollment role is not designed to maximize volume. It exists to uphold standards.

Alpha is constructing one of the world's most ambitious school models. Our campuses integrate rigorous academics with technology-enabled learning and elevated expectations for both students and staff. Students routinely outpace national learning benchmarks, with results supported by measurable data. Afternoons are dedicated to depth, autonomy, and the development of real-world competencies. The model delivers results. But success depends entirely on selecting the right families.

This is your function.

You will be accountable for the complete enrollment experience at a campus, beginning with initial inquiry and concluding with onboarding. This position does not rely on handoffs. You are responsible for shaping how families perceive us, ensuring they fully understand the model, and confirming that enrollment decisions are made with alignment in mind. You will evaluate fit, facilitate meaningful discussions, and when appropriate, advise against enrollment. The objective is not to maximize headcount. The objective is mutual alignment.

We welcome applicants from premium service backgrounds outside conventional education: selective private schools, competitive programs, high-end hospitality, executive support, exclusive membership organizations, or owner-operators with direct experience managing high-value client relationships from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to operate a high-touch, multi-phase process with sound judgment, clarity, and consistent execution.

If your career has been defined by delivering exceptional service in settings where trust, discretion, and experiential quality shape the brand, this role will resonate—just applied to work that genuinely transforms outcomes.

This is a full-time, salaried, on-campus position. We are hiring across La Jolla, Los Angeles, Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, and South Bay. Relocation assistance is provided.

What you will be doing

  • Taking full ownership of the enrollment experience for prospective families, spanning first contact through completed onboarding.
  • Facilitating needs-assessment discussions to evaluate fit prior to offering solutions or suggesting next steps.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family relationships across varied stages of enrollment, maintaining clear insight into progress and required follow-up.
  • Directing campus tours, shadow day experiences, and enrollment conversations that transparently convey outcomes, expectations, and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Keeping CRM and enrollment documentation (HubSpot and SIS) current and accurate to enable forecasting, prioritization, and sustained service excellence.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Employing transactional sales methods or high-pressure conversion tactics.
  • Accepting families who lack alignment merely to satisfy enrollment targets.
  • Overseeing large teams or navigating multi-layered approval hierarchies.
  • Distributing responsibility for the family experience across multiple team members.
  • Operating remotely. This role is intentionally campus-based.

Key responsibilities

Lead and deliver a high-trust, selective enrollment process that successfully enrolls well-aligned families while safeguarding the integrity and academic performance of the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing premium, individualized service in settings where service excellence directly influences brand perception (education, luxury hospitality, executive support, exclusive membership organizations, or owner-operated services).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment experience from initial inquiry through final onboarding.
  • Experience concurrently managing 20+ client, guest, or family accounts across multiple stages, supported by an organized tracking and prioritization approach.
  • Capacity to share specific examples of consultative judgment, including instances where you recommended against enrollment, purchase, or engagement when fit was lacking.
  • Professional written communication with senior executives, high-net-worth clients, or discerning stakeholders.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of the following California markets: La Jolla, Los Angeles, Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, or South Bay.
  • Work authorization in the United States without need for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Background in admissions for selective independent schools or competitive enrollment programs.
  • Experience in luxury hospitality, VIP services, or executive-level client support.
  • History of developing or refining enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service protocols.
  • Proficiency leveraging data and CRM tools to enhance conversion quality rather than simply accelerating timelines.
