Do you believe that every child should read at or above grade level—yet find yourself frustrated by systems that squander that potential?

Alpha School is demonstrating that literacy transformation doesn't demand 6-hour traditional school schedules. Our 2-Hour Learning approach combines AI-powered adaptive platforms with targeted expert teaching to unlock rapid reading progress. Your objective: create and facilitate workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics mastery, reading fluency, and text comprehension for students in early elementary grades.

This role is not about lesson-plan administration. It centers on evidence-based teaching, technology partnership, and constructing a reading intervention model that scales to serve thousands of learners.

Life in Dorado: Immaculate beaches within minutes. Dynamic bilingual surroundings with convenient access to San Juan's arts and culture, all while enjoying a close-knit community atmosphere.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops focused on phonics development, comprehension strategies, and fluency building
  • Creating individualized motivational experiences leveraging gamified literacy benchmarks
  • Reviewing student performance metrics to adjust teaching methods and identify practical improvement opportunities
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and refine AI-driven literacy platforms informed by classroom outcomes
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated instructional materials that help early elementary learners reach grade-level reading competency

What you will NOT be doing

  • Standing at the front delivering lectures — learning occurs through self-directed AI applications, not traditional passive teaching
  • Implementing a ready-made curriculum or scripted lessons — you create original workshop content independently
  • Instructing general academic content — your specialty is reading intervention and motivational facilitation, not mathematics or science instruction
  • Managing behavior or supervising without purpose — each workshop session is anchored by explicit learning goals and trackable results
  • Operating independently — you engage regularly with engineers who develop the AI systems your students interact with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student within your assigned group achieves at or above grade-level reading proficiency through AI-enhanced workshops that render phonics instruction engaging, data-informed, and effective

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's degree in reading instruction OR recognized structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (necessary for learner and family communication)
  • 2+ years of experience conducting small-group reading interventions with early elementary-aged students
  • Competent in evaluating reading proficiency, forming instructional groups, and creating differentiated lesson plans without relying on published curricula
  • Comfortable using AI and adaptive learning technologies and attuned to shifts in student engagement and behavior
  • Authorized to work legally in Puerto Rico without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Able and willing to work on-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
