Do you believe every student should read at or above grade level, yet feel frustrated watching ineffective systems fail them?

Alpha School demonstrates that literacy transformation doesn't demand traditional 6-hour school schedules. We combine AI-adaptive platforms with specialized instruction through our 2-Hour Learning framework to produce accelerated reading outcomes. Your role: create and implement workshops that generate quantifiable improvements in phonics mastery, reading fluency, and comprehension for students in early elementary grades.

This role emphasizes data-informed teaching, technology integration, and constructing a reading curriculum proven effective for thousands of learners—not administrative lesson planning.

Dorado advantages: Coastal beaches within minutes. Dynamic bilingual environment with convenient access to San Juan's arts and culture, while preserving a close-knit community atmosphere.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting adaptive reading workshops focused on phonics development, comprehension strategies, and fluency building
  • Creating customized motivational sessions leveraging gamified literacy achievement markers
  • Evaluating student performance data to optimize instructional approaches and identify actionable trends
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and refine AI-powered literacy platforms using classroom feedback
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated content that supports early elementary learners in reaching grade-level reading proficiency

What you will NOT be doing

  • Conducting traditional front-of-room lectures — learning happens through self-directed AI applications, not passive listening
  • Adhering to off-the-shelf curricula or scripted teaching plans — you create original workshop content independently
  • Instructing in academic disciplines — your scope covers reading workshops and motivational guidance, not mathematics or science instruction
  • Managing behavior or supervision duties — each session targets specific learning goals with defined measurable results
  • Operating independently — you engage directly with engineers developing the AI systems your students interact with each day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student in your assigned cohort achieves at or above grade-level reading through AI-enhanced workshops that make phonics instruction engaging, trackable, and enjoyable

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for student and family communication)
  • 2+ years facilitating small-group reading interventions with early elementary learners
  • Capable of evaluating reading proficiency, organizing student groups, and creating differentiated instruction without relying on pre-packaged curricula
