Student Success Coach   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Many educators burn energy battling bureaucracy. Drafting lesson plans no one reviews. Enduring staff meetings that produce no change. You recognized years ago that the real work is the student sitting in front of you.

Alpha uses software to handle academics. Adaptive applications guide each learner through content at an individualized pace. No traditional lectures, no assigned homework, no grading responsibilities. This structure frees you to focus on what genuinely transforms outcomes: facilitating life skill workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking abilities, concentration techniques, and feedback literacy, then providing one-on-one coaching to maintain motivation and achieve learning targets. Half your time is spent leading group sessions. The other half is dedicated to individual students, using Coachbot analytics to pinpoint exactly where obstacles emerge and why.

Students complete a mastery-based evaluation following each workshop. Over 90% should rate your effectiveness highly. Every student should demonstrate progress in their applications. These aren't stretch goals; they're performance expectations. Maintaining rigorous standards demonstrates your confidence in their potential. Through this process, you'll develop expertise in creating workshops teenagers actively anticipate, mastering advanced learning technology, and forming meaningful relationships with students and families. Our Brownsville campus is located adjacent to SpaceX. Where educational innovation intersects with aerospace exploration, you'll deliver Alpha's fundamental commitment: students who are engaged with school, learn at double speed, and acquire capabilities that genuinely prepare them for life. If you've been searching for an educational environment aligned with your vision of what school should be, you've found it.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skill workshops for high school students covering subjects such as public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange, followed by mastery evaluation through a structured Test2Pass assessment
  • Conducting daily motivation coaching sessions using Coachbot data to engage individual students, diagnose obstacles within their learning applications, and guide them through challenges
  • Co-creating personalized motivational approaches with students, including reward structures and incentive systems that encourage autonomous advancement in academic apps
  • Examining curriculum materials and session plans prior to delivery, then adjusting your approach based on real-time student engagement

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing academic content. Software manages math, literacy, and all other subject areas.
  • Administering a school or supervising staff. No budget responsibilities, no recruitment duties, no administrative meetings; your complete attention belongs to your student cohort.
  • Enforcing rules through conventional authority. No detention assignments, no suspension decisions, no "do it because I told you to." You rely on reasoning and positive reinforcement to cultivate a respectful, energized learning space.

Key responsibilities

Develop a cohort of high school students who are enthusiastic about school, achieve 2x accelerated learning through adaptive software, and exhibit mastery of practical life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • 3+ years of experience working directly with high school students (ages 13-18)
  • Willing to work in-person in Oklahoma City, OK (relocation assistance available)
  • Legal right to work in the US

Nice to have

  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program facilitator who has inspired teenagers outside conventional classroom settings
  • Demonstrated success guiding groups toward quantifiable objectives (completion percentages, performance metrics, behavioral transformation)
  • Familiarity with adaptive learning platforms or educational technology tools
  • Narrative skills that capture and maintain teenage audiences' focus, delivered with cultural sensitivity and authenticity
