Student Success Coach   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most educators waste time navigating bureaucracy. Drafting lesson plans that go unread. Attending faculty meetings that accomplish nothing. You realized long ago that wasn't the real work. The real work is the student sitting in front of you.

Alpha uses software to deliver academic content. Adaptive applications guide each student through coursework at an individualized pace. No traditional lectures, no assigned homework, no grading papers. This structure allows you to focus on what truly transforms outcomes: facilitating life skill workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking ability, concentration, and feedback literacy, then coaching them individually to maintain momentum and achieve their learning targets. Half your time is spent facilitating groups. The other half involves one-on-one sessions where you use Coachbot analytics to pinpoint exactly where each student is struggling and why.

Following each workshop, your students complete a mastery-based assessment. 90%+ should give you high ratings. 100% should be progressing through their learning apps. These aren't stretch goals; they're performance standards. Setting high expectations demonstrates your confidence in their potential. In this role, you'll develop expertise in creating workshops teenagers genuinely want to attend, mastering advanced learning technology, and forming meaningful relationships with students and families. Our Brownsville campus is adjacent to SpaceX. The cutting edge of education alongside the cutting edge of aerospace, and you'll be the one fulfilling Alpha's fundamental commitment: students who are passionate about learning, progress at twice the normal rate, and acquire genuinely useful skills. If you've been searching for a school structured the way you believe schools should be, you've found it.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skill workshops for high school students covering topics such as public speaking, concentration, and feedback literacy, followed by evaluating mastery via structured Test2Pass assessments
  • Conducting daily individual motivation sessions using Coachbot data to engage with students, diagnose obstacles in their learning applications, and help them overcome setbacks
  • Co-creating personalized motivational approaches with students, incorporating rewards and incentives that encourage independent advancement through their academic applications
  • Examining curriculum materials and session plans in advance, then adjusting your delivery approach based on student engagement and readiness

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction. All subject-area content—math, reading, and everything else—is taught through software.
  • Running a school or supervising staff. No budget oversight, no recruitment, no administrative meetings; your sole focus is your student cohort.
  • Using traditional disciplinary methods. No detention, no suspension, no appeals to authority. You rely on reasoning and positive reinforcement to maintain a respectful, energized learning space.

Key responsibilities

Develop a cohort of high school students who are enthusiastic about school, achieve 2x learning velocity through adaptive software, and demonstrate proficiency in practical life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • 3+ years of experience working directly with high school students (ages 13-18)
  • Willing to work in-person in Oklahoma City, OK (relocation assistance available)
  • Legal right to work in the US

Nice to have

  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program facilitator who has inspired teenagers in non-classroom settings
  • Demonstrated success guiding groups toward quantifiable objectives (completion rates, performance metrics, behavioral outcomes)
  • Familiarity with adaptive learning platforms or educational technology tools
  • Strong narrative and presentation skills that engage teenage audiences, delivered with cultural sensitivity and authenticity
