Description

Most educators burn their energy battling the system. They draft lesson plans no one will read. They endure faculty meetings that produce no change. You realized long ago that wasn't the real work. The real work is the student sitting in front of you.

At Alpha, academic instruction is handled by software. Adaptive applications guide each student through coursework at an individualized pace. There are no lectures, no homework assignments, no papers to grade. This structure allows you to focus on what genuinely transforms lives: facilitating life skills workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking abilities, concentration, and feedback literacy, then providing one-on-one coaching to sustain their motivation and achievement of learning objectives. You'll spend half your time facilitating group sessions. The other half involves sitting down with individual students, leveraging Coachbot analytics to pinpoint exactly where they're struggling and why.

Students complete a mastery-based assessment following each workshop. Your goal is a 90%+ approval rating. Simultaneously, 100% of your cohort should demonstrate consistent progress in their learning apps. These aren't stretch targets—they define the standard. Upholding rigorous expectations communicates your confidence in their potential. Throughout this process, you'll develop expertise in creating workshops teenagers actively anticipate, mastering sophisticated learning technology, and forming enduring relationships with students and families. This position is located in Oklahoma City, where you'll help realize Alpha's central mission: students who are passionate about school, learn at twice the conventional rate, and cultivate genuinely valuable capabilities. If you've been searching for a school that operates the way you believe education should function, you've found it.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for high school students covering subjects such as public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange, followed by mastery evaluation via a structured Test2Pass assessment
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions that utilize Coachbot analytics to engage with students individually, diagnose obstacles in their learning applications, and help them overcome resistance
  • Co-creating personalized motivational frameworks with students, incorporating rewards and incentives that encourage autonomous advancement in their academic apps
  • Examining curriculum materials and lesson plans prior to each session, then adjusting your approach based on the group's energy and receptiveness

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction. Math, reading, and all other subjects are taught by software.
  • Administering a school or supervising staff. No budget oversight, no recruitment responsibilities, no operational planning; your complete attention is directed toward your student cohort.
  • Enforcing discipline through conventional authority. No detention assignments, no suspensions, no "because I said so." You rely on reasoning and positive reinforcement to cultivate a respectful, energized atmosphere.

Key responsibilities

Develop a cohort of high school students who are passionate about school, achieve 2x faster learning through adaptive software, and exhibit mastery of practical life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • 3+ years of direct experience working with high school students (ages 13-18)
  • Available to work on-site in Oklahoma City, OK (relocation support provided)
  • Legal authorization to work in the US

Nice to have

  • Experience as a sports coach, camp counselor, or youth program coordinator who has inspired teenagers in non-traditional classroom settings
  • Demonstrated history of guiding groups to achieve quantifiable outcomes (completion metrics, performance standards, behavioral transformation)
  • Familiarity with adaptive learning systems or educational technology platforms
  • Narrative skills that capture and maintain the attention of teenage audiences, delivered with cultural sensitivity and authenticity
