Field Operations Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Take an empty building. Make it a school. Hand it off. Repeat. You'll convert vacant spaces into fully operational campuses, deliver them on time and ready for students, then transfer them to the operations team and move to the next city. This is high-velocity delivery, one campus after another. If that's the pace you're looking for, read on.

2 Hour Learning operates schools where students complete their academic work in two hours, then dedicate the remainder of the day to life skills, entrepreneurship, and opportunities traditional education doesn't provide. The model delivers measurable outcomes: students performing in the top 1-2% nationally, learning at double the standard rate. But none of it happens without a ready campus. That's what you'll provide: fully functional school sites, delivered on schedule and within budget, across an expanding network of micro schools, growth campuses, and flagship vertical campuses in major metropolitan areas.

The timelines are always tight. You'll go from building handoff to opening day in weeks, not months. That means coordinating vendor sequences, monitoring dependencies every day, and leveraging AI to anticipate every outstanding item before it causes a delay. After a campus opens, you'll transition the site to the permanent operations team and begin the next buildout.

You'll start with micro-campus projects — the fastest, most repeatable builds in the portfolio. As the network scales to include growth and flagship campuses, the scope and complexity of your work will scale with it.

When a school opens on time and students arrive on Day 1, your name stays in the background. That's success. Apply today through our assessment process: a cognitive evaluation and a practical work sample.

What you will be doing

  • Overseeing the complete buildout for each campus you're assigned: coordinating FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) procurement and installation, interior construction, IT infrastructure, signage, and playspace from building handoff to opening day
  • Executing a compressed delivery timeline against a fixed opening date: sequencing vendor work, managing interdependencies, and accelerating progress wherever the schedule demands
  • Directing and accepting vendor deliverables: submitting scopes of work, overseeing on-site execution, inspecting against specifications, and formally rejecting work that doesn't meet standards
  • Deploying AI tools to draft vendor scopes, generate punch lists, track outstanding items, and build handoff documentation — the pace of this role requires it
  • Implementing standardized site deployment playbooks, validating campus readiness upon completion, documenting structured feedback, and coordinating the handoff to the ongoing operations team

What you will NOT be doing

  • Managing day-to-day facility operations after a campus is open: you transfer responsibility to the permanent ops team and begin the next project
  • Performing hands-on installation or trades work: your role is to direct, inspect, and approve — not to install, build, or wire
  • Handling real estate acquisition, permitting, or certificate of occupancy: by the time the building is assigned to you, those tasks are complete
  • Working on a single project at a leisurely pace: micro-campus buildouts move quickly, and the next one is always queued
  • Navigating shared ownership or ambiguous accountability: every buildout has one person accountable from handoff to opening day

Key responsibilities

Deliver fully operational campuses on schedule and within budget, from building handoff through opening day.

Candidate requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years in operations, facilities, or project delivery
  • Experience diagnosing and correcting a broken process, with a measurable outcome to prove it: cost reduction, time savings, or quality improvement
  • Experience owning a multi-phase project from start to finish, from kickoff through documented completion
  • Proven vendor management capability: enforce quality standards with contractors and challenge substandard delivery
  • Experience managing 2 or more concurrent projects or sites without losing track of critical details
  • Consistent use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar) to increase efficiency and maintain organization
  • Based in the US and authorized to work without visa sponsorship
  • Available to travel 60–80% of the time (3–4 days per week)

Nice to have

  • You've participated in a physical buildout or site activation in any sector: retail, restaurants, healthcare, offices, or comparable environments
  • Experience in construction project management, tenant improvement, commercial fit-out, or facilities management
  • Any direct exposure to FF&E, IT deployment, signage, or commercial interior work, even in a coordinator or support capacity
  • You've worked with a project tracking tool (Wrike, Notion, Procore, Asana, Monday.com, or similar) to manage tasks or schedules

About Crossover

What you will learn

  • How to deliver complex buildouts on accelerated timelines: every campus you open is a delivery cycle that most project managers take years to accumulate in other roles
  • How to advance in project scope — micro-campus buildouts are your starting point; perform well, and the next assignment is larger, with more systems, more vendors, more complexity, and more cities
  • How to integrate real AI workflows into daily operational work: not a tool you use sporadically, but the core engine driving how scopes are drafted, punch lists are tracked, and handoffs are documented
  • A proven site deployment framework you'll both execute and refine — your structured field feedback directly influences how future campuses are built across the network
